He has something interesting material, Cosmic Trigger was one of the first books I read as grotty teenager. He's useful like Carlin, or even as psychedelics are, for getting you to start thinking. Got to come to your own conclusions though.
We agree there 100%

This War Shows Just How Broken Social Media Has Become

The global town square is in ruins.

"The Gulf War demonstrated the power of CNN and the 24/7 cable-news format, foreshadowing the way infotainment would permeate politics and culture for the next 20 years. A series of contentious election cycles from 2008 to 2020, as well as the Arab Spring, the Syrian civil war, and the rise of the Islamic State, showed how social-media platforms democratized punditry and journalism, for better and worse. Commentators were quick to dub Russia’s invasion of Ukraine the “first TikTok war,” as the internet filled with videos from Ukrainians documenting the horrors of war in profoundly personal, often surreal ways."

"The first casualty of war is always truth" - Aeschylus

That's one thing that became blatantly obvious in this conflict. People formed their opinions on the matter almost instantaneously, after seeing one tweet or tiktok video online. With zero actual knowledge of what actually happened or the geopolitical history of the region.

The amount of completely erroneous secondary data they look at is also prevalent.

You don't even have to actually lie to people anymore to mislead them. It just happens naturally now and by accident, all from social media.

"Until the philosophy which hold one race
Superior and another Inferior
Is finally
And permanently
Discredited
And abandoned
Everywhere is war
That until there are no longer
First-class and second-class citizens of any nation
Until the colour of a man's skin
Is of no more significance than the colour of his eyes
That until the basic human rights
Are equally guaranteed to all
Without regard to race
That until that day
The dream of lasting peace
World citizenship
Rule of international morality
Will remain in but a fleeting illusion to be pursued
But never attained
Now everywhere is war"

Haile Selassie I speech to the UN.

Just saying like folks, I'm just planting seeds, who knows some may take root & grow in the mind.

Let's not blame social media here, it is not the primary cause - it does feed into the primary cause though. The real issue is people are fucking lazy. So lazy. Can't be bothered to think, let alone reflect or re-evaluate. Then to top it off they become like their obese brethren - assuming they aren't also obese anyway - and get into this delusional state of believing they are perfected.

I've said what I thought of Netanyahu already.

Do you think the Israelis wanted to be slaughtered en masse? Why would they want that? As a pretext for destroying the group you're saying they are keeping in power? That doesn't make sense.

Look, I get that the Israeli government have blood on their hands, like most governments but maybe more than many. But no one has been willing to explain what exactly they should do about multiple brutal massacres happening on their soil against innocent non-combatants at the hands of savages who want their entire people gone. It all seems to boil down to "they kinda deserved it" and so Israel should do....what, nothing? Sorry, but that's not acceptable to me. I am keen to hear an alternative but what is there?
I'm just confused why you think the Israelis deserve to retaliate, while acting as if the Palestinians don't deserve to. Far more Palestinians have been killed by Israelis, than Israelis by Palestinians. Even with all the violence since Oct. 7. The Palestinian violence was NOT unprovoked.

But I asked what Israel should have done regarding the Hamas attacks.
arrest netanyahu, maybe chill a bit on the murdering children, i dunno, focus on ACTUALLY targeting hamas? i'm not a military strategist, but wanton disregard for human rights and the geneva convention seems more like terrorism than a real military campaign...

i mean, this is stuff that NEVER should have happened, and i don't think any of this should be in response to hamas' terror attacks (giving terrorism legitimacy is not my idea of a good idea), but israel (in response to israel doing these things) should immediately cease all bombings of hospitals, killing of press, killing of children (which is like pretty much every military operation, since palestine is one of the most densely populated places ever and is over half children)... kick non- israeli zionists/ settlers out of the west bank and give palestinian families back their homes, turn netanyahu in for an international tribunal on war crimes.

israel needs to make sure palestinians have potable water, electricity, food, etc... i like how the quakers put it:

if the humanitarian needs of palestine are met, that would go a long way to ensuring peace.

that's so sad. i can't imagine worrying about having my bloodline snuffed out by a genocidal government.

------------------

Israel are not doing this.
the israeli gubment is allowing settlers/ zionist losers to steal palestinians' homes, wdym?

But Gaza is so unbelievably dense there really are only two viable options, which is airstrikes (and accepting collateral damage) or going in by ground and suffering heavy losses due to the nature of urban warfare.
You're missing the point by || this much.

The Israelis have decided that innocent Palestinian civilians dying is an acceptable loss, because they value the lives of their Israeli soldiers more than they do the lives of innocent Palestinians. Which is absurd.
