"OMG! People have access to information before we can gatekeep it and weave our preferred narrative into it, and explain to them how they're supposed to feel about that information, because we think they're dumb. Please trust us after we've destroyed our credibility"

Washington Post can go fact-check themselves:

AP posting an hour ago about a bridge that's already fixed so they can drum up controversy against the Florida Governor

How is this drumming up bias against DeSantis? Looks like a fluff piece for view$ about a disaster. I'm guessing it was delayed for editing or whatever reason and released after the fact.

They released the article 4 days ago, but are still pushing it even after the bridge has already been fixed. They're not dumb, they know the bridge has been fixed

Because tragedy = money to them. A rebuilt bridge is a less interesting story. I don't see any political spin here, but haven't read the article.

Do they mention the hypocrisy of him voting no to hurricane relief in other states but then asking (and receiving) aid for this one?

Predicting that because of this, we will soon get articles about why FBI leaks are suddenly bad again

indeed.

16.6% of florida's state budget comes from the federal government.

if the federal government is so big and bad, why do any red states accept federal funds?

fun fact! 8 of the top 10 states most dependent on federal funds are red states.

Yeah in my homestate (AK) it's like that, people are skeptical of "big government" (which is certainly a good instinct in some ways) but they ironically live in a state that the federal government has been so involved in and dumped so much money into it's sick lol. It's practically a federal outpost in more ways than one

This is from December of last year:

"The measure includes $155 million for military construction projects around Alaska, according to Sen. Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska. Of that, $79 million will be spent to expand the runway at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. The rest of the money will be used for project at Eielson Air Force Base, and Fort Wainwright."

Good ol Dan Sullivan's fiscal conservative principles go right out the window the moment he can get his beak wet in some of that sweet, sweet military-industrial complex skrilla...

They've dumped so much money into Eielson alone it's obscene, which is now the proud home of the F-35, one of the biggest spending boondoggles I've ever heard of.

It's one of the ironies of the state. Another one is the simultaneous deep affection for nature, with all the identity that carries for the state, and the eager desire to rape & plunder nature the moment they realize that they can squeeze a few bucks out of it lol, natural world vs corporate world etc

Maybe these other red states have just embraced the dialectic like we have! 🤪

Politico published a political opposition piece and in it they outed a political candidate (guess which party) as a sexual assault survivor by likely illegally obtained private records and claim the records were obtained through FOIA which is a lie, because FOIA specifically protects victims of sexual assault, and the victim must be notified of the FOIA request and sign off on the release or it can't be released
