Covid-19 The New Covid Megathread v.Oh-my-cron!

:whip:
oh yeaaa comrade, lets seize the means of (re)production...lets get down with some horizontal recruitment! :cheer:

("horizontal recruitment" is a euphemism for getting someone to join a communist organization using sex. Just felt the need to clarify that lol)

Hate speech.... as an older gay male I have heard some. Honestly it was tough at first, my ego was bruised, I actually felt shame thinking the lies were true. Then I just kinda stood up and probably said fuck off a few times.

Now I am kinda over feeling like you can hate on my gayness at all. I just don't care and I think when you do get over yourself most hate speech is so sad and badly off point you just get a laugh. But, I am not a visible minority, I did think everyone could tell growing up and fear of being outed made my friend commit suicide.
Im not gonna pretend like I understand what it’s like to have to grow up going through that, kids are little shit heads and just want to be “cool”, however I do have a nervous tik and got my fair share of shit for that, I was always able to just say fuck it and fire back so it never really bothered me…but the way I see it some people are just assholes and do you really even want to be liked or accepted by an asshole like that or anybody they hang around with…words can hurt, but they are still just words at the end of the day, a punch to the face is real and sucks everytime

Yeah, but if you have a good degree and a good job you can really make a lot of money in the US.
6 figures and a lot higher is not at all as unheard of as it would be in many EU countries for similar jobs, while paying way less taxes as well.

Not that that's the be all end all of course.

But I wouldn't necessarily say that you'd be that much luckier to be born in the EU, depends on your starting conditions and the specific EU country.
Absolutely, there is a world of difference between the laws and cultures in each EU country and some have Russia on their doorstep too.
I would far rather live on a lower five figure income and pay more taxes if we also see the vulnerable looked after, including me when I was young.
It gives everyone a better standard if the taxes are used properly. Most EU countries don't have a fixed party system built around one political party or two very similar political parties either.
The happiest region in the UK, by statistical polls, is also the most deprived region financially, measured by disposable household income and it's the most abused region to boot. I'm sure that's not unusual.
The money doesn't need to be in your personal bank account to benefit you. If you collectively, through taxation, pay for healthcare and education then cross that off the money you need in the bank.
Lower personal income doesn't equate to a worse financial position when there is collective wealth, like in some Scandanavian countries in particular.
When billionaires can buy power, drowning out ordinary thoughts and voices, then democracy isn't the closest match for the system's name.
Anyway I'll go get some coffee before anyone starts calling me a commie

Is this still no "censorship" @Negentropic ? I wonder if you support this.
I understand where you were coming from when it comes to some independent artists being against it, but this is very different, right?

Hmm... It sounds like they're simply asking nicely in the name of public health. Not technical censorship yet, imo. I'll read it when I get home, running errands.

They don't have the power to stop it, they're simply making a request. Now... If the white house attempted to sanction Spotify then that's getting into dangerous territory.

If they forcibly stopped it then yeah that's breaching free speech. Regardless of what I think about the podcast it's protected under the constitution.

This is like the opposite of Twitter banning Trump.

So they don't have the power to stop it, but if they were to forcibly stop it, only then it's censorship?
They're not simply making a request, it's the white house =D by these standards they're never censoring anything. Like when they were in direct contact with Google and Facebook to censor certain things, which we won't get into now, "it was just a request and they complied, they're a private company". That's not an argument anyone can legitimately make.

This is so clearly about control of all narratives.
Nobody really believes they're actually going to get more people to get vaccinated by censoring this, maybe even the opposite, I think everyone can agree on this. So why are they trying to get him off the air? That is the question we need to ask. It's clear as day this is not at all about public health.

I mean.. yeah? Lol

Spotify hasn't complied and it's still freely available. How is that censorship? (So far).

I would be shocked if Joe was somehow actually silenced. It's not going to happen.

They probably also realize how many people they would infuriate by doing so. Twitter gave no fucks, because they aren't politicians.

At this point there has been zero censorship of joe rogan by the definition of the word.

Stridently so, yes. And hugely annoying on The View. Guess she's learned that she can't say ANYTHING and get away with it anymore.

She should've stuck to films, because she was hella funny in Jumping Jack Flash.
I think her best performance was bangin Demi Moore on behalf of swayze in ghost

Yes, attempting to end one of the leading causes of human deaths is somehow an evil conspiracy.

Pretty soon you're going to tell me that chicken noodle soup is connected to covid o_O
