We'll see. All depends how I'm feeling and how my schedule looks. Don't want to be interviewing for doctorate programs with low carb brain lol.

Have you tried keto, relying mostly on fats for energy, especially MCT 8-10 Carbons for optimal brain function.?

I haven't. Though I know my gym performance suffers when carbs go below like 100g/day. I figure just err on the side of caution and basically just cruise during the time I'd be interviewing. I don't make money off this thing so no point in jeopardizing my future over a hobby lol.

So I figure I'll update where I'm at and see how everyone else is doing.
Growing very well, at a nice 187 morning weight, not getting fat yet and strength is doing well. 750 test 250 deca for now. Probably will add dbol in a few weeks with some lantus to up training intensity (love training with lantus aside from back pumps). My dumb ass decided to go with my dream career instead of the "easier way" so I'm officially Pre-med instead of pre-physical therapy. Course load is mostly unchanged aside from the extra semester of organic chemistry I'll be taking. I figure sacrifice a little now in terms of quality of life (4 yrs of med school+residency after instead of 3 years of PT school) for a career that will be more rewarding as essentially a couple extra years now will be worth it come a few decades down the line. Hope everyone is fairing well during these times especially you all on the other side of the pond.

Well done for picking the dream career mate! I think you'll love it, assuming you don't like sleep and love 500 hour weeks  But yeah, seriously, it's all about the long term and picking something that gives you that lifetime fulfilment buzz <3

Can always sleep when I'm dead lol. I don't mind working by any means as long as I feel my time spent feels rewarding and that my efforts feel like they matter. I have lofty goals in what I want to accomplish in the patient aspect, research aspect, and organization aspect that can only be accomplished by this career. I live near one of the best med schools in the country so if I can make it there, I can honestly die happy after that

Congrats bro, making those landmark decisions is always a great feeling and it seems like you’ve put a lot of consideration into it. As you said - hard work, so long as it’s fulfilling, is well worth it in the end

I really love working when what I'm doing makes an impact. "the difference between ordinary and extraordinary, is that little extra" - Waiting
Lmao. Though I'll always work my hardest regardless, as my mindset is "fuck the company, satisfy the customer"

Can i ask what sort of clinical populations or what sort of research you wanna do? Just curious, that's all. I would assume something with fitness or PEDs but perhaps i'm way off base ??

Preferably endo. It's a specialty I have genuine interest in and I'm actually good at. Populations would vary from obese patients, to diabetics, to pituitary tumors, etc. The hours of working would be very nice as well

Ah that does makes sense given your expertise. Def something I overlook a lot when thinking about my day to day health. Good thing there’s professionals to do it for me lol ;)

There's quite a few specialties I'm interested in which I'll hopefully get to explore a bit once covid restrictions lift at hospitals and I can get some shadowing in. Looking at scribe jobs currently to get clinical hours for my med school application which will also introduce me to physicians and allow me to network. For now, my heart is in endo as I love the freedom of not being restricted to one organ system like most other specialties and also the complicated nature of the specialty that requires problem solving skills and often multi faceted approaches working alongside others as a team. Really feeds into my curious nature and my fondness of puzzles. It ticks all the boxes I want essentially. The pay isn't the greatest compared to other specialties like neuro, plastics, etc but I'll be more than ok financially and it opens the door for starting a cash only private practice to rake in the dough (hrt/anti aging clinic).

I can tell you that having spent a lot fo time with neuro students before i switched career paths, they were all extremely neurotic and egotistical. You’re not missing out lol

endo has that unique aspect of holistic wellness since as you said it’s not just one organ. What sort of classes are you taking for it now?

Just the standard pre med stuff and a few for my exercise science major. Quite a few of my ex Sci classes cover aspects of endo pretty well since hormones regulate a lot of substrate utilization for exercise. I figure I'll get more exposure in med school and just use the time I have now cranking out pre reqs and absorbing what I can along the way. I spend a lot of my free time reading articles and stuff trying to keep up with newer research on hormone pathways and stuff for bodybuilding and usually stumble across more general applications that I'd find in a clinical setting or even when reading up on melanotan and the melano receptors and how even just those have such a broad cascade of biological effects

How are your lipids and hematocrit? You getting ready for a comp?

Lipids are aight. In the reference ranges so I'm ok with that. Blood is thick as usual lol but I donate frequently to help with that. Maybe a comp next year, we'll wait and see. Just eating my food, grinding in the gym, and pinning my gear. I opened glutes up as a site again after a year long hiatus and my ass is a bit sore lol.

Just wanna give a shout out to all the great minds that make up the main posters here. I really enjoy the varied backgrounds we have here and the wealth of info and experience (not just ped related, but all fields) we have here. You all keep me curious and keep me Learning.

There still seems to be an unnecessary concern over blood lipids, LDL-C is now no longer thought to be implicated in CVD...
Triglycerides increase LDL, and lower HDL which would be more of a concern, as the HDL is known to present as nonfunctional HDL..
The solution is to lower triglycerides and increase saturated fat..
Keeping hydrated would lower haematocrit..

just checking in with our resident meatheads

I've been doing much more low impact work (i.e. less running). Cycling mainly and swimming. The streets have been too icy here anyways for a solid tempo run. Recovering from my "winter season" of multiple maximal endurance trail runs. Legs have been feeling kinda tight and I am experimenting to see how I want to incorporate a mobility routine. Tight legs = no go for just about anything

hope everyone has been well 🖤

Good to hear you're still training.

Still in a lockdown here in the UK but the end is neigh as our PM announced we can ease restrictions from the 8th March, gyms open again on the 12th April and hopefully (fingers crossed) back to relative normality on the 21st June.

Saying that, managed to catch COVID 4 weeks ago, so getting back into training has been tough. Running just seems to take it outta me.

Hope everyone else is doing well?

Bit late to the party on this one, but congrats man you'll crush it :)
