US Politics The trump impeachment thread

I think he might be saying he doesn't really think that and was saying something a trump supporter might say as to why they support him. I could be wrong though.

You're a Russian mole. That's why you asked me in message this morning if you could have my account and so is your buddy Grimey. You guys saw my post stating that I had been considering leaving Bluelight and thought you could use it to your advantage. How many more of you is there?

Expect to see more Republican House members wanting to “spend time with their families” now that Congress is back from recess.
If Senators start retiring, the canary in the coal mine is dead.
The House members retiring still means a bit less because the Dems are in the majority. But it does mean that the Republicans don’t think they’ll take back the House.
In other impeachment news, Mitch McConnell is predicting a more-than-fig-leaf impeachment trial, meaning that impeachment looks inevitable and it is going to take more than a cosmetic effort to address it sufficiently.
I still don’t think the Senate will convict, but I think Senators whose seats are at risk are going to need more cash for this campaigns, or they’ll get primaried.

WTF you talking about? I can't believe how some people are blaming everything on Russians.
As if Americans or their allies can't form their own legitimate criticisms without getting fed talking points from the Kremlin.

Then you probably wouldn't like the only other viable conclusion I could possibly conceive of for your political assessments, conspiracy theories, misdirection and misinformation. I was actually giving you the benefit of the doubt by thinking you're a Russian mole.

As for Gengar he was trying to solicit my account for some odd reason. No idea why??

You however are better than a Russian mole because you actually believe all the garbage you spew and your doing it all for free with nothing to gain. They couldn't pay for a better operative.

You've already been fed the talking points whether you are aware or not. The battle is information and the war is over truth. Your talking points are toe to toe with ideas and misinformation that has already been extensively used by Russia for Facebook adds and the pRESEDENT they fought so hard to elect.

First off im not pro or anti Trump. I avoid politics at all costs. It does bad things to good people. But, Trump is our president and will be again come election time IMO. I dont understand why people get so bothered and worked up about it. We live in a democracy where majority rules. And guess what-the people have spoken-and the majority was in support of Trump. You dont always get your way. Deal with it and dont get all worked up over politics. They change every 4 or 8 years anyways. If you feel so impacted by it then do something about it like run for president.

Uhh, no, the majority of people voted for Hilary Clinton.

Now don't get me wrong here, I think there can be very valid reasons not to go with basic majority vote on everything.

But what you're saying is just flat out wrong.

And guess what, complaining about it IS doing something about it. That's also how democracy works. People complain, and politicians are supposed to take notice that potential voters are unhappy.

Guess i just gotta agree to disagree. But if the majority of people voted for Hilary she would be our president right now. Excuses and conspiracy theories dont change the end result. In the end its like voting between a turd sandwich and a giant doosh anyways.

Uhhh, I honestly don't mean asking this as an insult but, are you aware of how the electoral college system works?

Because in American presidential elections, the winner is not determined by majority public vote. The public vote saw Hillary Clinton win by 3 million votes.

I mean, I don't know what else there is to say. That's the official result of the election. If you contest it, you're contesting the validity of the official results of the election, and once you do that, there ceases to be a valid winner along with it.

There's just no valid argument for the proposition that trump legitimately won the majority of votes of the American public. Either the results are legitimate, and he lost, or they're illegitimate, in which case there is no known current legitimate winner of the total public vote.

If you believe that you have to win the majority public vote to be president, you're simply mistaken. That's not how it works. We have an electoral college, who's members pledge to vote for candidates. The public votes for the electors, the electors vote for the president.

Yes i know what you are saying and yes i do know that it isnt the vote of just the American public that counts. The electoral college is a massive part of the outcome. I should have been more specific and not so loose with my wording. And wow 3 million votes? I knew it was alot but not that much.
My point is, regardless of how many votes she had, what happened, etc.-she lost. Its been over for years. I guess i just don't understand why people who praise Killary cant let it go?
Also theres no way Trump is going to get impeached. Its just not gonna happen. No matter how much propaganda CNN or any other network pumps out. Time will tell and youll see.
You also said that complaining online will make a difference because "politicians are supposed to take notice that potential voters arent happy." 🤔
Im not fully aware of campaign tactics or what potential future presidents do in their spare time. But im pretty positive that people online who are in no way shape or form in any kind if power or holding any kind of office talking about politics doesnt mean jack shit to them. Maybe you are simply mistaken my friend?
We could go on for days, weeks, and apparently years about it. But its not doing either of us any good. Plus this is why i said earlier i dont get into politics, too many people get offended and too many people are suddenly experts.
But im neither offended nor an expert. I respect your opinion as a fellow American and hope the best candidate wins our next election.
You can have the last word, im not going to make enemies over 2 rich people trying to get votes. We (the people) are the ones really making this machine work, no point in us hating each other. Take care.✌️

All the people complaining online represent people unhappy in the real world.

Trump COULD be removed from office. I generally agree that it's still fairly doubtful. Especially as the next election gets closer. But I think it's pretty safe to say that a lot of Republicans previously loyal to the president could turn on trump once they think enough of their voters are unhappy. Politicians are nothing if not excellent at adapting to what's currently politically convenient.

That's why complaining is worthwhile. Sure, complaining here specifically may not matter, but generally speaking in a democracy if you're unhappy with your leadership you have a right (and in some senses a duty) to make your feelings known.

The senate has generally been very unlikely to impeach trump. But if the polls start saying a significant enough number of people want him impeached, things could change in a hurry.

Also, I'm no fan of Hillary. To be honest, I haven't noticed many (if any) people on bluelight who are. There's lots of people who hate trump, and a few trump supporters who seem to repeatedly assume hating trump makes you a Hillary supporter by default. But that is not so, and I don't think there are many Hillary supporters around here.

I've never much cared for Hillary Clinton. I think of her as a consummate politician. Which for me is a grave insult.

Thing is though, while letting go of the 2016 results probably does mean not talking about Hillary anymore, it doesn't mean not talking about trump anymore.

Trump won, just as you said. Which means he's the president. The current president is always a relevant talking point in American politics. Regardless of if you voted for them or not.

Ironically, I'd say you have it backwards. By and large from what I've seen it's the trump supporters who can't let go talking about Hillary Clinton. The rest of us are more interested in talking about what matters today. And that's trump.

I don't want trump out of office because I wish Hillary had won (in fact I mentally groan to myself just saying that). I want him out of office because I genuinely think he's doing significant damage to a country and system of government I support and want to see succeed.

For the hysterical anti-Trumpers in the USA, the inherent part of diplomacy that is 'quid pro quo' is now an impeachable offense, apparently.

Mick Mulvaney, Acting Chief of Staff, desperately trying to walk back his statements during a disastrous press briefing about the Ukraine aid being held up.
This is so funny and Wallace just keeps the pressure up.
