How is this liberal? If this is a real thing, I think it’s crazy.
Liberal CRJS reform = lowering penalties to encourage people to rejoin society quicker. It's not a bad thing in a lot of cases. But in this one, I disagree entirely. Until we've nearly eradicated the disease or slowed its progression significantly that move was totally premature and outright dangerous and in my opinion morally wrong.

I think the law changed because the disease was no longer a death sentence as there are ARV's that enable people to live a bit longer. Like that fucking matters right? I don't think it does. Just my 2c feel free to throw rotten fruit at me anyone who disagrees <3

Thanks for ‘splaining.

It’s difficult to understand how anyone would think that being exposed to HIV is not a huge deal. 8(

Well the thing is you may have the virus and not know it, and ignorance of the law is not an excuse. Like literally that's pretty fucked up but it's true, let's say you are unaware of your status or had a false negative result so you think you're clean but in reality you're not (rare but does happen), and unknowingly pass it along.

How ON EARTH does a court "prove" that an individual is aware of their HIV status is beyond me. There's anonymous testing for people without ID cards i.e. the swaths of homeless people. The other "he said/he said" or "he said/she said" or "she said/she said" thing is the one partner can say "I informed them of my status" and it can be a lie.

It's honestly like a nasty situation and mixed feelings but it should have stayed a felony to encourage people to be honest about their status, etc. Just my 2 cents.

HIV has a huge stigma that is mildly (not largely) unwarranted and likely by lowering it to a misdemeanor they also wanted to reduce the stigma. However to reduce the stigma entirely would be to lower transmission rates to near zero. This isn't impossible. We can limit the devastation of it through some logical policies/community approaches. I think that is potentially what was in the minds of the legislators (though this is all irrelevant IMO; the most relevant thing is the act and whether it warrants felony or misdemeanor status).

They also likely weighed the seriousness of all the felonies/misdemeanors on the books and as they keep flopping new rules on/off the books, making things harsher/less harsh penalties, then comparing some things starts to not make sense so you have to keep micromanaging the system.

Hey at least people get more than 9 years for murder in US unlike Norway etc. *shrugs*

The court/judge can possibly get a warrant for medical records. If they were to do this, they can see if the person has a history of HIV (assuming they are being treated for it). If this IS the case, they can then potentially prove that they gave the other person HIV knowingly.

Being charged or arrested for something? Maybe they could mine some more Wikipedia data ? about convictions, maybe?

Nothing you post has reputable sources, for the ones that have sources.

Are you sad that 8chan will be offline for a bit? Where will you go instead? If only there was a site with truly free speech that you hadn’t quit with a screed. If only such a site existed...

Crappy sources? Like me posting legit info on Mueller inv for 2 years? I've never been on 8chan. I find a lot of the speech on there disgusting and racist. But I will always fight for those disgusting racists to say what they want to say. I'm not falling for this censorship BS like some people.

Yeah. They say dark chocolate is supposed to be healthy for you. My mom loves it haha.
I love being in LA and everyone is a nice mid/dark tan on average but we get all the colors here. Anything from full on ethnic White Russians to full on ethnic Chinese from the farmlands where there is no public schools (and I was like dude, you speak next to no english, how da fuq u in this country and using drugs) I bet the Trump Train took him back to china WOOWOOO lol

right now I'm not so much into the figurative dark chocolate except this one guy who .... yeah I can't even go into it. TMI and too specific / would rather keep it confidential. lulz. not for the public forums.

1st Amendment rights? ? Is that the good fight that brought you back here after such a histrionic exit?

I knew you’d been on 8chan! ? How different was 4chan?
