I was in a small town called chapel hill today, and their only bank has a confederate flag flying next to the Tennessee/us flag. Not super common place to see it flying on official grounds. Also a town statue of Nathan Bedford Forrest. That town would have been one massive triggering event for yankee or Californian!
The pro separatists in Quebec fly the battle flag as well. Outside of that the flag in the north probably isn't a good sign IMO
Our "seperatism" flag in Quebec is literally our Province's flag. Sometimes it is the 1837/38 Whole Canada Rebellion (they try to reduce it to Lower Canada french speaking Patriots, but it's because the Ontarians do not get told about that in their high school history class, see Upper Canada Revolt/Rebellion on wikipedia. Then the Patriot flag is basically the current Italian flag, with the iconic guy wearing a toque and carrying a .22 marching on.
