PC PC Gamers - Whatcha playin?

Doom 3. How I miss playing this game. Which reminds me. What happened to Doom 4?

Doom 4 is supposed to be in production but there hasn't been any updates from iD games since 2008. Its a bit of a dissapointment because its turning into the situation that Valve is in with Half Life 3. There will be a Doom 4 eventually, just not this year or the next.

DOTA 2 & Fifa 12

Haven't been playing much of either lately

Still playing Ultima Online!

This shard is freaking awesome. The staff and community are constantly interacting - multiple events per week (pvp, pvm, etc.). Every month the game literally gets more polished and great content is added. Currently working on some marble furniture for my keep. :)

Going through a huge growth phase too. Lots of new players each day.

Check it out:

been playing bioshock, crysis 3, far cry 3 - i have like 10 games on my computer i haven't had any time to get to play yet. I Have Arma II and Dayz but i find it so damn boring. Far cry 3 has been a shit load of fun though - graphics are fucking insane on ultra.

DayZ is only really interesting if you 'server hop' to gather the basic resources quickly.

Being on the receiving end of PK'ing is kinda frustrating though - not really my kind of thing. Also, the removal of HUD elements (presumably to assist 'immersion') makes things awkward and inefficient. I lost interest fairly quickly.

I'll probably buy the standalone when it's on offer.

If anyone is interested in trying the game Darkfall: Unholy Wars let me know, I have an account I will probably never use so you wouldnt have to pay the box price

its like a combination of Ultima Online and The Elder Scrolls although that is giving it a bit much credit as its not nearly as polished as an Elder Scrolls game but it is certainly one of the more interesting FFA PvP MMOs out right now I just really cant get into MMOs anymore

I'll always enjoy talking about them and World of Warcraft is what really got me into computers but idk they just dont do it for me anymore.

I dont even really game anymore at all now that I think about

I cant tell if Im just a cynical douche or if games just arent as good anymore

Either way Im glad I grew up during the Golden Age of PC gaming and I wouldnt change one thing I did as a teen I had a lot of good times staring at a screen until 4 in the morning

Only two games have ever made me stay up all night though, WoW and the original Darkfall

Agreed - the DayZ mod is too clunky and and buggy for me to invest any real time into it. I really like the idea of the game though, and I'm hoping the standalone will fix some of my main complaints about the current build.

I've been playing Terraria again in anticipation of the next update.

yeah i'm intrigued with the standalone dayz - anyone know if its based on the arma ii engine or the new one>

arma is a huge fucking resource hog, even on a 6870 and 4ghz core i5 i still can't max it.

They're using a modified arma II engine. I know they're getting rid of that crappy inventory system... not much else.

Arma II was always CPU intensive. You can have the best GFX card in the world and it won't make much difference.

I'm running an HD7950 on a Quad Core i7-3770 3.4GHz and although it runs well, the cooling fans start sounding like a fucking jet engine.

I'm hoping the new Total War: Rome 2 goes back to the older style unit types instead of the handful of options you got in Shogun 2. Not that S2 wasnt fun, but all of the factions used the same units and it kind of made each battle the same until you got later into the game.

I still think the first Medieval was the best though, I remember playing as the French the first time I played it on Hard and I got excommunicated within like 15 turns and wound up losing actual France to both the English and Spanish (bunch of snakes down there I tell ya) and had to take my king on a boat along Africa to the only two provinces I had left in the Crusader States and like one turn before I get him there with the only good troops I have left there's a massive Egyptian army coming to take Acre after I had to abandon Jerusalem and I'm sitting in Acre with like 4 units of shitty spearmen, some shitty archers, a Turcopole for a general somehow, and what saved me was one unit of Dismounted Chivalric Knights and the fact that I upgraded the shit out of Acre for this exact reason.

now when I say "massive" I mean massively cheap as far as the Egyptian army went, probably was like 1/3rd peasants, 1/3rd militia, and the rest was either their slightly less cheap swords or spears plus their general who was an actual general with armored guards unlike mine who could shoot arrows and run away as a talent.

Long story short, the AI decided to just focus on one gate and my Chivalric Knights were dropping their units left and right and once they finally got to like half strength I pulled everyone back to the next level and just let the towers and burning oil do work and by the time they got to the inner gate and their general came up to fight it wasnt really that unbalanced numbers wise anymore so I just threw whatever spears I had left at their general and just as my Turcopoles finally ran out of arrows and I was about to send them into melee I see their general's banner go down and it just turns into a straight rout and I did indeed send my general into melee but this was straight chasing dudes down and I just remember sitting there when the victory message popped up going like "did that just happen?"

obviously that doesnt do the battle justice but I remember thinking it was pretty cool back when I was 13-14 years old, felt like a badass for sure

Yeah, Arma II has good graphics and I don't think my computer could handle them.

What I need is a new graphics card.

damn that game is a monster, hopefully the mods they made to the code for day-z will improve on this, as not everyone has a monster computer laying around to play games. I also fucking hated that inventory system, so much potential with that game that is unrealized. It'd have been better on a different engine altogether IMO.

If anyone wants a Guild Wars 2 account let me know I highly doubt im going to play it again

Let me try and log on first and make sure I still have the right login info.

Ill pm you once I got everything in front of me

Just played this one for the second time. I love Amanita Design.
Don't judge this one by it's looks, without a guide the puzzles and levels are pretty hard, extremely clever and alot of thought went into it, if you like point&click with alot of passion and imagination put into it by it's developers, give this one a try... really

Game Dev Tycoon

It's a very addictive business simulator (based around game development) that managed to eat up way more of my time than I thought it would.
