Hey everyone here on Bluelight! I am a long time lurker who finally decided to register and post. I have many severe chronic illnesses including Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and End Stage Renal Disease; I?ve been on dialysis for over a decade with 2 failed kidney transplants. So obviously I?m in a ton of very severe chronic pain and I see a Palliative Care/Hospice specialist to get my pain meds. I?m on 50mcg Fentanyl patches and 10mg Oxycodone Q4hours PRN. I don?t know if I have an extremely high opioids tolerance (been on several different pain meds since I was 8 years old) or if I have a genetic disorder known as CYP450 (makes it to where some medication families don?t work at all) that goes along with EDS a lot of the time. I just can?t seem to get any relief from the meds I?m currently on and I?ve tried almost everything. Its extremely frustrating. I do smoke cannabis and have my MMJ card, but it?s gotten so damn expensive where I live and I?m on a fixed income.

Other than that, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our 2 cats, 3 ball pythons, leopard gecko, and pet mouse. I like singing, painting/drawing, I?m a makeup artist, and really I?m just trying to live my life before I pass on. Was told I wouldn?t live another 5 years due to health issues. Anyway, just want to say hi and sorry for such a long post! If anyone could give me some tips on what I could do/use to either bypass or lower my tolerance without actually quitting all meds cold turkey so that I can get some relief from this horrendous daily pain. Thanks!

Hi Echo1826, cool of you to join the team.

I don't think there is an easy way to solve this problem, but I suggest checking out Basic Drug Discussion. You might get some good replies and better assistance over there, but you've provided a great introduction!

My family used to have snakes as well - two corn snakes. We sold their babies on reptibid.com. Are ball pythons as scary as they seem? I've never been close to a larger snake before, but I've seen pictures of them around peoples necks and stuff like that. Are they hard to train? The snake and mice are kept separate I assume? Or do they hang out :)

Does marijuana help with the pain? Because depending on the state, you could always grow it. That would be the most cost effective option.

As I've said to a friend on BL in private message, I wish you could transfer your pain onto the world, little by little. Like everyone have .00000001% pain. Communism for pain, if you will. Because it doesn't seem fair that it happens to good people, but anyway, I hope you can enjoy the time you have. It sounds like you have some awesome things to live for.

Hi there, madness! It’s nice to meet you! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I’ll have to make a post over there and see if anyone can help me find an answer. Ball pythons aren’t scary at all! At least not to me. lol Our BPs are all under 1 year old so they’re still quite small; only around 2.5 ft long and approx 350-400 grams. They are super docile and I’ve not been bitten (yet) by any of them. I have been hissed at and have had my arm constricted prettt hard, but that’s because our boy BP was in a bad mood that day. Haha All in all, they really do make amazing pets! I had a corn snake about 10 years back; he was such a good snake. But unfortunately my ex left the top off the tank, Maes got out and we never found him after that.

Oh my gods, yes! The cannabis helps tremendously with the pain! I mean depending on the strain; some strains make it seem worse though. We have legal recreational where I live so I could grow up to 12 cannabis plants, but hubby and I rent and our slumlord would have an absolute shit fit if he found out I was even using on his property. Ugh. I can’t stand that guy. I’ve tried several kinds of Kratom and that never worked for me, personally. Wish it had though.

Aw, I really like that. Spreading the pain equally throughout. That’d certainly help me out! lol I don’t know why bad things happen to good people. When I was born my mother asked the doctor why I had all of these health issues (I was born with the EDS, kidney disease, heart problems, both hips dislocated, and my right knee twisted completely backwards) and the doctor said, “Just bad luck.” So maybe that’s all it is. Just gotta take life one day at a time.

Docile you say? I can dig that. I just always assumed reptiles were unpredictable, but I guess you're saying sort of that the one who feeds them they can get to like. And a lost snake is quite nerve wracking, we had the same issue. Luckily she was found in the closet.

So funny how some strains do the exact opposite lol. There really is something for everyone, in regards to particular treatments. That stinks about the land lord, and the bad luck in general. Although hard to gauge through text, you seem to be pretty lively and appreciative for life despite all the health issues, and I really think that's cool.

Keep on keepin' on ;)
