Fentanyl in cocaine: The deadly truth of new drugs cocktail

The US government has warned that a surge in cocaine deaths is being exacerbated by the presence of fentanyl, a synthetic opioid 80-100 times stronger than morphine. Correspondent Nick Bryant and cameraman Darren Conway report from Illinois on a worrying new trend in America's opioid crisis.

There was a newsflash on the radio the other day (UK) warning about a 'bad batch' of cocaine in London which has already killed one and left another seriously ill in hospital. I immediately suspected fentanyl, but that hasn't been confirmed afaik.

It’s sad that the average bozo dealer in the hood can get access to such powerful drugs whilst not knowing the simple difference between a stimulant and an opiate or a benzodiazepine... these people just hear that it’s 50-100 times stronger than morphine or heroin and think of money $$ immediately. They don’t understand drug interactions or tolerance/dependence and end up mixing fentanyl or carfentanyl with cocaine thinking it’ll make the coke ‘stronger’ when in reality you’re making super speed balls that are killer status. We really are reaching an end point when it comes to the potency of substances, I mean honestly where can we go from carfentanyl? What would be more potent and what would be the use of it? Same goes for the super synthetic agonist cannabanoids that kill people
