Anyone know how hard it is to get prescribed Ketamine for depression and what the process would involve?

I mean is it a very difficult thing to get a doctor agree to?

Can you just get Ketamine infusions if you have a psychiatrist agree to them or is it a lot harder than that? (I'm assuming that's not all that's involved or I'd probably know of more people who got them...)

I don't think that anybody got ever Ketamine described for depression, since it is considered an experimental drug if used that way.

Only people who are suicidal can get ketamine infusions here at least

having looked at some of the clinics' advertising, i'd guess anyone who will pay for it. the ketamine clinics have their own doctors, who are likely very willing to prescribe ketamine infusions.

As far as I can recall, the medical research quoted here in UK was that a 'bolus' dose was effective in reducing severe depression for up to a week following the dose. Bolus means a 'one-off' dose - so no chance of a prescription here.

You have to be somewhere where there are Ketamine clinics. Reach out to them if that is the case for you.
