I was trying to convey that it Is a poor negotiating ploy, not that Trump would pull the plug.

I called Trump a poor tactician because his scorched earth "Let's Terminate Orignal NAFTA to Make Congress Accept New NAFTA, aka USMCA" is too aggressive as an opener.

Congress might bicker about what's in the "new NAFTA" agreement, but they aren't going to accept the termination of the default option fo force their hand. (Remember the default option is Old NAFTA, aka Zombie NAFTA ).

Due to the economic shock waves it would send, it's unfathomable that Old NAFTA be terminated. However..., it's just such a bad faith opener. All it was good for was a stress-inducing headline and a guaranteed defensive posture by Congress.

Not much accomplished there...
