The US healthcare is probably the most fuck-up thing i ever seen. Lofexidine, a clonidine knock-off just approved by FDA introduced by a US company for opiates withdrawal to cost $2000 a bottle ..wdf! I mean that molecule is no better than clonidine an old drug that costs 25 cents a pill.. Besides the generic version of lofexidine is readily available and cost 1$ !

Doctors are calling out a new drug that helps people with addiction for costing more than $1,700 a week ? while a generic costs just $1

US WorldMeds can charge whatever it wants for this drug but there's no reason that physicians have to prescribe it. Unfortunately, physicians in the U.S. have shown themselves to be highly susceptible to marketing when it comes to prescribing fancy brand-name drugs when a cheap generic would work just as well.

It's not even a gamechanging drug. If they figured out a really effective opiate withdrawal mitigation med it would be a blockbuster drug regardless of cost. People would demand it in hospitals, detox's and rehab.
