Anyone else who quit smoking experienced this? I haven't had a cig in a week or so and I'm hacking and coughing up more phlegm than when I did smoke. Last time I quit cigs was 2001 or so my memories are unclear.

as far as I know, smoking tobacco hinders those hairs in your bronchia from transporting phlegm upwards, so after quitting they are more enabled to expell the dirt you put down there smoking cigs. so coughing up even more shit after quitting doesn't sound too off, if you have been a heavy smoker.

I hope this explanation isn't totally wrong, just based on things I have heard.

This is usually what happens when you quit. It's basically your lungs clearing and getting rid of all the shit that was brought on by smoking. Perfectly normal bro so don't be worrying, although if it persists or gets worse after around 2 -3 weeks you should most definietly go to your doctor or your pharmacist to see if there is further problems. But at the moment I wouldn't be worrying to much about it. Hope this helps. Stay Safe, Peace, Mr.Heffo94.
