An emergency room physician has been suspended after a video of her mocking a patient claiming to be suffering from an anxiety attack was posted to Facebook, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

In the video, Dr. Beth Keegstra, of El Camino Hospital in Los Gatos, is seen doubting Samuel Bardwell?s account of what happened to him, saying, ?You are the least sick of all the people who are here, who are dying. So you put your head up. Don?t try to tell me you can?t move. Come on. Sit up.?

She tries to force Bardwell to sit up by pulling at his arm, even though he clearly tells her that he is unable to.

?You want us to wheel you to tour house in a gurney?,? she asks him.

Bardwell was hospitalized Monday after experiencing an anxiety attack after a basketball practice. His father, Donald, said Samuel has a history of anxiety attacks, for which he takes Klonopin. It treats seizures, panic disorder, and anxiety. Samuel had not been taking the sedative leading up the Monday anxiety attack.

?She never first came in and introduced herself,? Donald said. ?She never said her name, she never asked for his name, she never really examined him.?

Keegstra even accused Donald and his son of coming in for drugs.

?She said, ?I know why you people are here, you people who come here for drugs,? and I said ?What do you mean you people??? Donald said. ?She was rambling on so angrily that?s why I pulled out my phone.?

El Camino Hospital released a statement saying that Keegstra has been ?removed from the work schedule, pending further investigation.?

?This week, a patient who visited the emergency department at our Los Gatos campus had an interaction with a physician whose demeanor was unprofessional and not the standard we require of all who provide care through El Camino Hospital,? the hospital said. ?We have expressed our sincere apologies and are working directly with the patient on this matter.?

This story is pretty much is Exhibit A about the racism black people experience in the medical world. And one has to wonder if Keegstra has done this before.

I?d wager that she has.

If you want to see Keegstra?s atrocious treatment, you can see the video below. It is really bad. But had it not been recorded, this doctor probably would still be treating other patients as badly as she treated Samuel.

So glad this person is suspended.

ER doctors are generally assholes. I did have a good one this last Friday. I had an anxiety attack went to the ER was treated respectfully and given IV Ativan followed by a script for 4 of them until I could see my phych doctor. My blood pressure was 154/110 though. That could of been a factor.

The guy's dad was there. I doubt they're running a hustle on the ER docs for benzos if they then turn around and film the confrontation and share it on the internet.

It would undoubtedly blow their cover.

This seems like a legitimate person who had panic/anxiety and was mistreated, possibly due to racism, possibly due to anti-drug user sentiment.

^thats my take on this.

Certain hospitals I’ve been to have been absolutely horrible when it comes to how they have treated me as a former drug user/someone with a history of SUD.

Others have been amazing, compassionate, humane, and all around professional. It’s just hard to know what to look for in healthcare before ones experienced what not to look for...

Part of the irony for me with healthcare these days is that, if I had received adaquate care when I originally tried to find it, I never would have progressed past the mild spectrum of SUD. I’ve met so many people who ended up getting deeper into addiction as a result of being treated like a junky piece of shit by medical “professionals.”

And then they turn around and blame the patient for having a drug problem they exacerbated. It will take some time before I’m less jaded when it comes to medical staff.

It’s a mad mad mad world...

A girl from my recovery meetings went to the ER a day ago with a fully torn ACL.....they were about to give her IV dilaudid and she refused and stopped them and explained that she is in recovery. the nurse replied, " yea recovery for from being stupid"

if i wouldve been there i wouldve possibly assaulted this cunt, and i've never hit another person in my life.

Here is a video of the confrontation.

To be fair both the Dr and the guy on the bed sound like liberal fucktards thinking their opinion is more deserving than the other.

The guy said he can't move yet moves his arms. His speech is fine as well. As they say in Trailer Park Boys "something fucky is going on around here".

I love that you are insulting liberals.

As if there aren't tons of asshole republicans and as if we don't have one of the stupidest presidents in history.

I will say that while the Dr. is an idiot and I'm glad she got in trouble, I'm also not quite sure why the guy on the bed sounds so relaxed trying to say he can't sit up.

Something does seem a bit fishy here, and I can't say for sure whether or not he was faking his situation, but one thing that is for sure is that a lot of ER doctors are assholes and that they generally don't seem to take anxiety disorders seriously and I've heard of and seen doctors mocking people for anxiety before.

That's totally and completely fucked up.

On the other hand, and this isn't to say that the nurse isn't completely fucked up and shouldn't probably be fired, as someone who has 3 times torn his ACLs it is pretty painful and it's par for the course to offer a narcotic pain killer.

That said, everyone has the right to refuse pain meds.

It's actually odd cause usually it's the other way around with the person wanting the pain meds and being refused them.

with regards to the story. I don't know any junkie in the world that comes to the ER to get high. $4000 for 2 mg of alprazolam.....i could buy a 5 year supply of alprazolam on the street with that money.

even if you had insurance the copay is 100-200, i could be high for days on high doses of better drugs than the ER has

hospitals knowingly overcharge you for basic services to scam you, the insurance company, the gov't through medicare etc.

IMO that patient should have mocked the 'doctor' right back for being a fat cunt with a face that you just can't help but want to bathe your eyes in chlorine trifluoride having witnessed, and probably should have made some name drops, I'm thinking S'theno, Eureyale, and their more famous, mortal sister.

I really do think it a crying shame, that anybody should be made to fear going to hospital. Not to fear the malady which caused them to go there, but to fear being there and subject to the whims of those who work there. I've nearly been killed, once, by a cretin who asked if I was allergic to anything, was told 'beta lactam antibiotics, certainly the penicillin group, no encounters with carbapenems, and I believe cephalosporins to be fine', now, it might be the case a doctor is dumb enough not to know what a beta-lactam is, although given the prevalence of them and allergies to them, they ought to. Few seconds later, he hooked me up to an IV line, buggered about telling me what it was until more or less put to the metaphorical thumbscrews, I had to actually order him to halt, and tell me the exact name of the drug he intended to administer. I told him again 'anaphylaxis will be the result'.

Ignored, fucker walked off saying 'be back to check on you in ten minutes'. Now, I might be mistaken, but I seem to recall that a human being might well die if deprived of oxygen for ten minutes. And if not, potentially end up as decorative shrubbery. Still walked off, accompanied by a tirade of PISSED. I ended up having to cut the IV line with my pocket knife and leave it to drip all over the floor, before it actually got so far as to start going from line to vein.

And when he came back he had the nerve to get a bit arsey, until thoroughly chewed out.

And when he went for metronidazole, or tried to, after being told (and I made sure to find out what he had in mind first before I let him anywhere near me), that I'd drunk a bottle of whiskey to dull the pain caused by swelling due to an infection, a few hours prior, just long enough to be soaked in acetaldehyde and bad temper, he said 'oh, you'll be fine', and insisted on it being the case even after a lesson in enzyme kinetics and interactions, centering on the fuckup he wanted to make.

Other times, I've gone in, with it being the day before I'm due to pick up a script, either last dose naturally wearing off, or else in obvious severe pain, to a degree pretty difficult to fake, or else admitted via ambulance, without anybody available to bring me medication, although a prescription refill slip was with me showing what, how much and how often.

And they expect someone taking 80mg IR oxy and a few hundred of morphine to make do with 10mg oramorph, if they could be arsed, until about three days later, and denying my clonidine, tizanidine (dangerous) and both chlormethiazole (walks like a barbiturate, quacks like a barbiturate, isn't one) and nitrazepam, expecting me to make do with one low dose zopiclone tablet at night...left me in a worse position than when I went IN the fucking hospital, and christ, it was hell on earth. Not even accusing me of drug seeking, could obviously see that I had a regular, repeat GP script for everything (and of course, medical records are hardly going to be hidden), and just could not be fucking ARSED. Couldn't be arsed to bring me food either on a daily basis, and I was not under a nil by mouth order. Just didn't think 'hm, he needs to eat and drink'. Tap water from the bog, on crutches, for several days.

Was absolutely nightmarish, and I, unsurprisingly, was spitting feathers by that time, in full on WD, and with accompanying foul temper. Someone obviously got the message, because I got sent home with enough of the meds I'm rx'd plus a fair few 100mg morphine caps, bottle of liquid oxy, couple of stock bottles of chlormethiazole, and enough of the regular meds I'm on to fell a horse. Twice, thats happened, that I remember. The few really kind ones, its sad to say, that its the exception rather than the rule, have been the anaesthetists prepping for surgeries. They have never been vile to me, like doctors and nurses have.

That three day WD, it wasn't even touched by the 10mg oral morphine (of which about 20-something percent isn't chewed up in first-pass), I never could have told them if it were in me, or not. After most of two days of begging, I did get given a 20mg oxycontin every once in a while, but all that did was take the edge off a very little. Now, the thought of going back to that hospital is enough to make my blood run cold.

Liberal fucktards, huh?

Admittedly, I'm no fan of the left's affinity for social justice, third-wave feminism, and especially any attempts at language-policing. This part of the left is in danger of unwittingly-becoming the very thing they claim to abhor. It's a sad thing to see, but I greatly value their comprehension of empathy.

I'm also no fan of the right's portion of individuals who lean on a bigoted interpretation of the Bible and 'Christian Values' in order to further their agenda - the same book and corresponding beliefs which they seem to overlook when they (or their leader) are contradicted. And as for the current Commander in Chief, the lack of condemnation he receives from his base whenever it is warranted is unmistakable and disturbing. I suspect Jim Jones would accuse Donald of stealing his playbook, but I digress.

Whatever you may have against liberals, thinking that an opinion is more deserving than another absolutely transcends the entire political spectrum. And as such, your response denotes pure partisan hackery, which is petty, pointless and counterproductive in the long-term.

You've inferred their political views based on what is an inconclusive anecdote. This is something Alex Jones - whom I used to listen to when he would rail against both the DNC and GOP; before he selfishly turned into Trump's bullhorn and parted with a good amount of his original staff - has embraced at an unprecedented rate.

Sadly, Alex's audience eats what he has to say up because he effectively-streamlines his cherry-picked anecdotes into a deceitful, dogmatic rant which exploits populist narratives and confirmation biases in order to avoid being promptly-disregarded as the propaganda that it is. Would his audience also believe that he is one step away from becoming another sanctioned arm of the establishment - collectively known as the MSM - which have happily peddled lies and deceit for Uncle Sam for far too many decades?

For all we know, the 'liberal fucktards' all could have voted for Trump.

Such counterproductive stupidity - this back and forth between liberals and conservatives borne of identity politics, overused labels, misunderstood terms, and a fear of the unknown/others.

This stark polarization of the left and right has prevented a great deal of opportunities to work together in order to topple the real enemy: the establishment boat by way of rocking it from both sides at the same time.

Instead, what this back and forth has wrought upon America is its future prosperity, which has been, and continues to be looted by special interests (aka globalists in most cases) without much provocation because liberals and conservatives have been far too occupied with this perpetual state of being at each other's throats.

With the exception of the top ~2% of the nation's wealthiest citizens - virtually none of this makes America great again whatsoever in the long run.

On the contrary, it is deeply undermining the long-term quality of life for what amounts to the heart and soul of America's workforce: the middle and lower-class families on both sides of the political spectrum who've worked their butts off to contribute to the society of a very special nation.

The way things are going is unsustainable, and unless liberals and conservatives can put their differences aside in order to work together to truly drain the swamp in D.C. which has festered for decades, and, is the epicenter of that which must be ended - money in politics - I fear that this great nation shall witness the end of what remains of the U.S. Constitution as we know it.

For the sake of being able to freely and openly debate left and right-wing politics in general for a long time to come, we need to drain the swamp. I wish Trump could do it himself, but he can't for a number of obvious reasons. Perhaps that'll change eventually, but I doubt it.

He couldn't win a debate with a blowfly larva, let alone make a speech. Hell, apparently george w bush actually said 'well at least he makes me look good, huh?' of Trump. Bush was a humongous festering gangrenous knob, but Trump is an stinking, rancid disease upon the US, like a pus-dribbling boil, squatting upon the pimple riddled arse end of the US.

and less than 50% of voters fully support that, mostly from states receiving the most federal "welfare" from liberal states which are producing the majority of the economic product the us is recnesponsible for (pharma and tech). yes these welfare receiving states have their votes counted equally if not more than states actually producing economically..."state welfare"

for a party so angainst welfare they seem to sure get a lot of it. I guess its just pennies of welfare for brown ppl that that bothers them, not the type of welfare that they get

Poor Donald, eh?

Apparently he had to file for no less than six Chapter 11 Bankruptcies, including, a tanked casino venture, which, is quite a feat in and of itself.

What really cracks me up though is that he reportedly thought it was a sound business decision to sell the short-lived 'Trump Steaks' exclusively in an electronics retailer.

==========================

On the other hand, I do credit him when it's warranted. Pardoning the woman who was sentenced to life for a non-violent drug offense - thank you! Pulling out of the TPP - thank you. And IIRC, he has said that he'll allow states to decide whether or not they wish to legalize Cannabis. Yes, I know he's ticked off at Jeff Sessions, who seems determined to channel Harry Anslinger's vilification of 'the devil weed', but I'll still take it nonetheless. Credit where credit is due IMHO.
