    Came across this recent article about different phases of water in the liquid state. Since my physics knowledge is a bit lacking, I may not understand all the details of the experiment they performed. Perhaps someone with a more advanced physics knowledge could chime in?

    Not sure about this, looks difficult to me too, but it seems to be similar to Bragg diffraction experiments for determining some other crystal structures (like that of KCl or other salt). Liquid and solid phases of water are quite complex, as can be seen from the many shapes of snowflakes.
