C'mon BL, Jeebus told me he wants me to have a house in The Hamptons. Be generous!

Jesse Duplantis, a televangelist with viewers across the globe, says God told him he needs a new jet. Specifically, God told Duplantis he needs a Dassault Falcon 7X, a three-engine private jet capable of carrying 12 to 16 passengers at speeds up to 700 miles per hour. The Falcon 7X, which would be the fourth plane owned by Jesse Duplantis Ministries, has a range of almost 6,000 miles and costs about $54 million new, according to SherpaReport (although used ones are listed online for as little as $20 million).

    The rest

Wow, what gall. God told me I need a $20 million jet... I wonder if anyone believes the guy? Seems like the sort of thing that could lose you your followers... and I hope it does. Televangelists are the worst. Predatory bastards.

Some will leave, but many won't. If you didn't leave at private jet number 1 you're probably not gonna at number 4.

You think Jesus would have 4 private yets?

What kind of second-rate, loser deity would pick the Falcon 7-X over the Gulfstream G550?

God? He started out as a second rate loser diety before he got mainstream and started taking credit for everything.

    True story, mostly.

I like to imagine if Jesus had private jets it's because he's the celebrity Jesus from family guy. The kind of Jesus that would deliberately leak a sex tape when he worries he's been out of the spotlight too long and gets arrested for drunk driving and checks into rehab.

Ya think? I have a buddy who's an attorney and occasionally represents this con man who's been in and out of prison. He's done time for both practicing immigration law and medicine without a license and he's so slick that he's able to get legit doctors and attorneys to go into practice with him. After his last stretch, he's reinvented himself as a televangelist!

Wrong punctuation mark. It should have been "Sad!" or better yet, "SAD!"

The Daily Show's Ronny Chieng explains the whole thing in a way only he can:

Well, it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God. So, I take it that according to his faith, this guy is going to hell anyway. So, why bother trying to help other people "see the light" if one is just going to burn in hell anyways? Whether or not this guy will actually burn in hell, I obviously have no idea, nor does anyone. And to be honest, the more one claims to know about the other side, the less they probably really do know. It's just not something that the human brain can really grasp. However, you can see the hypocrisy here. This guy is incredibly rich, yet according to his faith it would be easier for a camel to fit through the eye of a needle than for someone rich like him to go to heaven.

I don't go to church anymore, but when I did, the pastor earned an income that was enough to support himself and have a bit of extra money to spend on stuff here and there and frankly couldn't care less about "getting rich". At least, he was actually following the religion as it was intended opposed to being a complete hypocrite like this guy. While I've moved away from organized religion, I feel like if people are going to claim to be religious to the point of running a church, they should at least actually follow the religion that they claim to.
