Doctors and scientists are starting to get pissed off with the suppression of dxm by the pharma company's. It has proven to help where nothing else will, and it's safer than most other medicines with less side effects.
Dxm doesn't have allot of negative side effects it has allot of negative reactions to other medicines and drugs . If one were to drop all and take dxm medicinaly while eating healthy they will heal. Simple.
It's the interactions that are severe nothing more in most cases. It's like an autistic idiot savant, capable of unimaginable things but only if dealt with properly and with the right people. Here's some links that are relavent

DXM does have quite the palate of side effects, especially at high doses. You can't seriously mean that someone on 900mg+ with humongous pupils, flushed skin, and a robot-walk gait is "normal" and would be accepted socially?

I mean, DXM is indeed a curious drug, and it does have some uses, but its massive SNRI effects somewhat undercut its utility as a drug to take everyday.

Also, DXM doesn't speed healing at all. I don't know where you got that idea.

From my personal trials with DXM I see it as having limited value for acute depression and as an aid for quitting other substances. I haven't investigated some of the other claims like diabetes and Parkinson you posted but will check them out.

I don't see it as healing much of anything really but giving temporary relief of symptoms, like an Advil would for a headache. Long term use of DXM isn't really sustainable from what I've seen and as mentioned, DXM has side effects of its own.

DXM has recently been introduced as a treatment for a condition called "Pseudobulbar affect", a condition where people suffering from neurological illnesses become prone to outward displays of emotion that no longer match what they are feeling on the inside (ex.: someone might break out into uncontrollable fits of laughter, despite feeling only mildly amused - or even sad - inside).

However, for this indication the DXM is combined with quinidine, a CYP2D6 inhibitor, to slow down DXM's metabolic conversion to DXO, which is the exact opposite of what recreational users of DXM are after (those would want it to be rapidly metabolized into DXO, which produces stronger dissociative effects with far less of an effect on serotonin reuptake).

Certainly has lots of unpleasant side effects, but at least the more psychological ones are manages with relative ease. I found DXM incredibly helpful for opioid use disorder (acute withdrawal, PAWS and cravings generally) and for my depression.

I imagine different people will respond in at time very different ways, but for those it works well for it can work amazingly well.

Absolutely right though, heavy long term use will lead to nothing but health and psych problems.

OP-BTW you might not realize, but the term 'idiot savant' is generally perceived as pretty offensive. Just 'savant' or 'autistic savant' will do just fine, without calling savants idiots. Because being a savant does not equal an idiot in other respects. Just people with excellent skills in a particular area. If anyone called me 'idiot savant' I'd probably punch them right in the nackers to be quite honest.
