60 Hours into opiate withdrawal...

Day 115 Fuck that's amazing!!! I am truly happy you're doing so well! I see some people take SSRI'S when quitting did you and if so did they help?

Yeah, the regular routine is a great idea, and riding it out is all I can do right now, I feel like a bag of shit, dragging myself around.

I am day 6 today, I actually slept last night! Crazy vivid dreams but who cares, I slept!!!

The physical sx are gone, the depression is still with me, that's what really sucks and just like you it makes me want to try really hard to find alternative ways to manage my pain!

Take care Mtatz88,
Ashley.

That?s awesome you got sleep, I didn?t get any good sleep till a month and a half. I didn?t take any thing while going through this. I know a lot of people say take this and that it helps, but I just rode it out completely cold turkey. Life is so much better off them

Thanks so much, I am in so much pain though but I guess what did I expect quitting my LTOT cold turkey? I really want to avoid refilling my rx so I will try to find another way to help. I am happy you are doing so well! Brightens my day honestly!

Take care,
Ashley.

Had to add you are a FUCKIN ROCKSTAR Mtatz88 for quitting CT and making it like you have! Couldn't let the day pass without telling you that.

Have a wonderful day,
Ash. x

Thank you, appreciate that lol. You?ll get where I am, just take it one day at a time, I remember when I was on day 6 and thought I?ll never get passed this, now look where I am. You?ll do the same, just keep busy and the days will pass, trust me.

Was there anything you found to be particularly helpful in getting through the acute withdrawals? Exercise really helped me in the past but I'm getting over a back injury. Was going to do some stretches, possibly go on a jog and then doing some chores outside that need to be done.

Exercise definitely helps, but finding anything to do like a hobby to take your mind off of it and to take up the time worked for me. I just got myself a routine, go to work then straight to gym everyday.

It's a count down in your mind and body. The worst thing you could do is listen to somebody else about how long your detox will last. Instead focus on how you feel and how you want to feel.

EPL - I can appreciate you not wanting to be tied down with the pain medication you were prescribed, so please take what I'm about to say FWIW or whatever.....Assuming your pain was at a level so bad you decided to see a pain management specialist (I would think so from what I've read of your posts), he then prescribed you pain medication and at this time you are voluntarily deciding to cease taking it. In the meantime, you are having to come up with alternatives to the medication for your pain and now on top of all that, now you're having to deal with all the additional pain stopping the medication entails. I admit everyone is different, so again I sort of "get" what you're doing but I really have to wonder what the long term prospects are. For the record, I wish you all the best if this is what you want and it certainly appears it is.

Just thought I'd mention that I'm in the same boat, neck and back problems. In addition to that, I've had migraine issues going back to my teens (and I'm 60 now), so that's a long damn time! I've been on pain medication for the past 35-40 years and although I've been frustrated from time to time, there is absolutely no way I could ever consider not taking my pain medication. Looking back, I made attempts at alternatives but none of it could remotely touch my problems. So here I sit, on the same regiment for tbe past 7 years or so and it basically is what it is and I suppose I've sort of come to terms with it all at this point. I just thought it was important to share my situation in light of what I had to say. Again, I wish you all the best in what you're trying to do.

Thanks for this! It is the exact same for me. I am just coming to terms with it now. Years and years later.
I have been waiting to "heal" all these years and keep torturing myself to check out how bad the pain is without pain medication. It remains so much pain that I could not take it for long. It is what it is I guess. Time to move on with life and try to make the best of what I do have and that is a lot. Gotta count your blessings!

BeachBum4u, yes this is correct. When you put it like that I sound pretty crazy...Lol!!

i commiserate with you, having neck and back problems pretty much fucks you for life, not always, but you know what I mean, so I get it too. There is no shame in having to take pain medication when you need it. I think I should take my own advice. Keep me updated. I also wish you the best. Take care.

Hugs,
Ash.

Maybe not crazy, just biting off a lot to chew, so to speak. Thanks for your reply. I'm glad you took what I had to say in the spirit it was intended.

And yes, I truly struggle everyday with one issue or another. It has made working very difficult but at the end of the day, turns out I need that structure in my life. Not to mention, having a little money here and there isn't too bad either. If it wasn't for working, I don't think I would have much reason to have to be awake at certain times, eat when the family is eating and basically be "with it" when I should be. I really believe humans are sort of built to operate that way, if that makes sense. Be well!

BeachBum4U,

I knew how you intended it and want to thank you for your reply, too kind. I truly wish you the best and hope that we can continue on and be happy and well however that comes about for us.

Have a wonderful day!

What?s up everyone? Just giving an update, 2 days away from 5 months clean and I?ve never felt better. Don?t have any urges to take them, I don?t even think about them anymore. Life is so much better without them!
