I enjoy nothing more than a great bass line. Groovy, funky, especially down right filthy. I think that you've got a great song if you have a great bass line. You can have a great song without one, but having one pretty much guarantees it. I'll start by posting one of my all time favs. Never changes throughout the whole tune. Just kills.

there are so many, but this song by Pinback came to mind but . Whole song is sustained by that straighforward baseline which repeats throughout with vocals providing the changes and variety. A simple formula but yields a song I've listened to a whole bunch

Doesn't accentuate the bass as much in this particular recording;compared to others, but its just too awesome acoustically and visually, to post any other version ( also the bass and the drum are lovers - you cant tear one apart from the other). :D
