Open Discussion suggestion - bluelight irc server

^ If that chat channel's been settled on as the one to use, then we have the option of stickying a link in various forums with the address in case anyone fancies some real-time socialising.

Hopefully we can revisit this later on and get an official server and channel established once again in the future. In the meantime I'll set up on irc.tripsit.me in ##bluelight and hope that we can get enough people going there to show that having an official irc channel would be beneficial to bluelight and worth what little effort and resources it takes to establish and maintain it.

webchat link, just input ##bluelight as the channel to join.

Nice! I'm in!

tripsit is a harm reduction network, so short of bl running its own irc server, having our channel on a server that already has harm reduction channels and services makes the most sense, and both communities can help each other out by helping each other grow and such. since impersonation has been suggested as a potential problem, if ali is willing to add a little bit of "officialness" to it we could probably communicate with their ircops to deal with that if it actually becomes an issue. establishing a mutually beneficial partnership with them, like to have them as our 'official' chat and us as their 'official' forum or something like that, could also be a possibility if the administration teams of both want to pursue some kind of relationship or partnership with each other.

This sounds like a very good idea to me. I've been looking through tripsit and it's very active and there seem to be a lot of people willing to help others.

Nice one tath so certainly trumped my idea :)

What you need is the power to shut it down should it go sour like reddit did.

I suggest a mod of bl mods any channel, or admin are given the passwords as well as a sign of good faith.
