Pardon me for my ignorance if the answer is obvious, I don't know a whole lot about chemistry. But I was just wondering why we don't ever see benzos with iodine as the halogen? Or nitro groups on the phenyl? Also what is the effect of replacing the phenyl with a pyridine?

There are Benzos with nitro groups on the phenyl, for example Flunitrazepam, Nitrazepam or Clonazepam.
I would also be interested in this if anyone knows more or has links to some papers about the structural possibilities of benzodiazepines. For example I always wondered if you could replace the halogens with methoxy-units.
