Morphine Replacement Therapy?

Does anyone know anything about how doctors can prescribe long acting morphine in Canada as a maintenance medication for opioid addiction? This seems to be a difficult question to answer as I haven't been able to find out anything more than that it seems to be legal in Canada to prescribe long acting oral morphine for opiate addicts. Any help with this would be very appreciated.
