yeah, this is going to go well....i was making a mix usbstick of music from my hometown, and came across a band - 'the chickasaw mudd puppies'. wow. this is so southern i'd advise proper mericans as to abstain so as their wits, such as they might have, remain with them, god bless 'em one and all

 
They had two albums produced by Willie Dixon, Michael Stipe and John Keane. True story. Haven't listened to them in forever. Thanks for posting. I'm gonna go beat my wife now.

Athens was so awesome in the 80's and 90's. I didn't really hit the scene until 95, but can respect the fuck out of those years that were before my time.

Never lived there, but I'm from Atlanta and was a WSP junkie for many years. Yes, I was at the free show in 98. It was a fucking free for all.

Here's a cool quick 4 part series about Jay Smith that played around with Allgood and a bunch of other Athens musicians until he passed in 2001.

there was a billboard downtown during wsp 98, "cannabis stupida" - i crawled up there and painted 'LIBRE' over stupida while people cheered. only time i had real liquid lsd, from a dropper - *damn*. i was just giving out shit. and truth, i don't even like wsp!
