Hello my fellow bluelight family!
I am here to report that I am now doing pretty good!
I ended up going to the hospital and getting IVC'd.
They sent me to a mental ward for about 2 weeks.
My NEW clean date is October 4th, 2016.

I am staying at an Oxford house at this time.
I also went to court and I am no longer on probation, woo-hoo!!

Thank you everyone for the advice, and I love all of you!
Also; personal thanks to MANBOYCHEF!! You're awesome man,
thank you for talking to me on the phone buddy.

Glad to hear you're doing well w0w0mg! It is good to have you back.

Questions for you: :)

  • What was the hospital like?
  • Were you at the hospital for a detox?
  • What is this Oxford house place you speak of?
  • A type of treatment center?
  • What kind of services do they provide?

I hope all the question are not too intrusive. Sharing your experience would provide others with invaluable info regarding what to expect in early recovery.

So glad you are back with us w0w0mg, truly <3

What was the hospital like?
The hospital was alright, the food in the inital ER department, SUCKED.
I was in my own little cubby for about 2 days, being baby sat by someone, lol.

Were you at the hospital for a detox?
I pretty much detoxed at the hotel I was staying at,
My last use was Oct 2nd, and then just used gabapentin to help combat withdrawals.

What is this Oxford house place you speak of?
An oxford house as a democratic half-way house, you pay your own way,
you have to remain clean to stay there or you get kicked out.
It's alright for the most part.

A type of treatment center?
I went to a behavioral health center located in the back of the hospital.
It's mainly for mental health but offer some groups that are relevant to substance abuse.

What kind of services do they provide?
The treatment center offered mental health services includes medication adjustments.
I am currently on gabapentin and an anti-depressant. It's working fairly well for the most part.

w0w -

I am so glad you are back and doing well! I was so happy to read your post. I think the last we heard from you everyone was hoping you would end up at the hospital instead of in jail - and you did! I think living in a sober house is an awesome idea and it will be good to be with all the other sober people for awhile. Does the sober house have a time limit that you are able to stay?

Thanks for for reporting back on your success so it will give others hope.

- VE

Thank you VastEmpty!
An Oxford house does not have any time limit on staying,
you can stay as long as you need!
You just need to be your rent.

:)

Haha, Thanks Rufus!
Yeah, man - The struggle can be very real.
I just can't fall into the old cycle.
I am still kicking though, which is amazing on its self.
I have OD'd over 15 times the last YEAR!!! - 5 of them in a month.

I really do take advice from everyone here. It really does help.
I don't know where I'd be without this forum. <3

What state/country do you live in? You are very lucky you don't live where I do. There's no way you would be off probation and not in jail. My area is known to be the toughest county in the state for "punishing" addicts. It's a shame that they don't focus more on reform instead of jail here. Good luck. Prove the system wrong and show everyone that addicts deserve a second chance and don't necessarily belong rotting in a cell to "learn."

Capt - No, I have been on Celexa, Zoloft, and Prozac in the past. None has worked as well as Paxel.

Rainyday - Thank you so much!

My3sons - I live in North Carolina, USA.
The ONLY reason I got off was I had a great lawyer and she found a bunch of errors in all my cases!

Wow you got lucky! However, I am sure it cost you a ton! Amazing what a lawyer can do for a case. Judges won't even listen if you don't have one. It's actually bullshit! Everyone deserves to be heard. I had a judge recently tell me "I don't care about the facts." Meanwhile, it was a DMV clerical error that I proved but wasn't allowed to tell my story bc I was representing myself. Good luck

Very interesting, thank you for telling me your experience.

I tried zoloft and it made me very socially avoidant, numb, indifferent. Quitting it was really hard, very intense physical withdrawal symptoms including brain zaps.

I've never been brave enough to try another SSRI since then.

I know exactly what you mean, those crying spells suck as well.
Yeah, it's a love hate relationship honestly.
I know I need to be on it, but I hate having to take medication.
It helps so much with my depression and the gabapentin helps with my nerve palsy and anxiety.
I have noticed I have been overdoing the gabapentin so I'm trying to calm down on it.
Hey, it's better than shooting dope and breaking the law though.

yo we were sick at the same time. 1 month for me too man. I can really relate to your posts. I been in some seriously tricky situations myself. Dont b too happy bro. Stay sharp and practical.
