Hi I am currently on 100mg and I was wondering if this is bad for my liver
 
Also I want to see if many people are prescribed it, it seems to be pretty rare for most people I know
 
I've been on 40-75mg a day for a couple of years now and my liver is still in primo condition. What are you getting it prescribed for, if I can ask?
 
I Am prescribed it mainly for my lower back and past fractures to loosen up all the muscles in the area, one thing I keep wondering is why baclofen is $2-$3 per 25mg tablet I didn't realize that they were going for so much online and obviously I guess there is a market for them but for wat reason I don't know.
 
Ooh Í'm guessing you're in the US with prices like that (don't know if such discussion is allowed, fyi, even for legal and prescription meds).
 
No I am in Australia and I'm part indigenous so I get my medication free, but I cannot see why it is valued so highly
 
I guess what o should ask is what other purpose are people using the for eg anxieyy ,alcoholism and drug withdrawal aid
 
Its a muscle relaxant/cns depressant. It goes well with other drugs. Can take the edge off stimulants, enhance the effects of other depressant drugs, help you after a physically strenuous day.
 
Baclofen is a muscle relaxant and GABA receptor agonist. Basically its a bit like valium but unlike valium you won't get you high. At best you can get some very boring fun out of it by taking bit and having really relaxed muscles and a bit of a anti-anxiety affect.

But they're prescribing in lieu of say Xanax and Valium because the abuse potential is significantly lower.

That said if you've been taking it for years you'll suffer a withdrawal effect. You shouldn't sell your reserve because in the event you want to quit or your supply gets cut you need to taper down (you cannot go cold turkey with GABA receptor agonists, they will fuck you up if you do).

Lastly just because you get a drug subsidised on the PBS doesn't mean its not worth anything. Hell i don't pay anything for my suboxone but if I was selling it i could make a fortune on the darknet. However long experience has taught me never ever give up your reserve of something that is preventing you from suffering the most god awful sickness known to man.

Keep it and be glad that you get the benefit of a socialised medical system that doesn't require you to pay $100 US a month for your script (that's what it costs in the US).
 
Baclofen is a bit of a funny one, some people get a really good subjective feeling out of it and I know a few people who swear by it when coming down after going out and partying on MDMA, whereas others say it doesn't do anything for them. Myself, it just makes me feel a bit floppy and I'll take one before bed if I think I'm going to need extra help getting to sleep.

I take it for muscle spasms cause by a multiple sclerosis type condition and it definitely works really well for that. It did had a slight anxiolytic effect for me when I started taking it regularly (2-3x day) and increased my tolerance to caffeine which was a nice side effect as I love drinking coffee and Coke. I am surprised it goes for so much on the onionwebs, it's not like it's difficult to get it prescribed. That's down to its low abuse potential, although it's true that it's not terribly well known outside of neurology/addiction medicine
 
My doctor is happy to dispense me the 25mg 100 tablets and because is rarely recreational free they aren't worried about people abusing them roundly like benzodiazepines off which I am one of the youngest people in Australia to be prescribed hypnodorm (flunitrazepam) half strength rohypnol basically and I am prescribed 30 every month for sleep but I mainly indulge during the day for anxiety purposes because it absolutely shits on diazepam oxazepam and lorazepam and being an old school benzo there is much desired effect compared to the more specific benzos like alprazolam or the z drug zolpidem
 
I have noticed the increase in caffeine consumption but also mild anxiety effects when I overindulgence myself on the odd occasions I notice the leaning you experiencing, mine is compared to nodding without euphoria and slothing about with a really lazy posture but still with what seems like a more stable comfortable back
 
Nodding without the euphoria describes it well. Happens if I forget I've taken one recently and then take another. I get weird flashes of colour in my vision too. Coffee fixes things though.
 
Im also in the same sit. Go easy on the dicksizing man.. honestly no one is impressed by what or howmuch anyone can gets there drugs for.

This is a harm reduction forum mate. I had a very surprising incident once when consumed 180mg (low tolorence my daily dose is 2x10mg) I literly blewout identicly to a 14b (ghb,gbl+) vlowout.

Parants called ambulance and was in hospital for 12 hours. Identicle to a G overdose. Had the stupid movements.. had to kept being sternem rubbed ect. I guess this is due to the the GABA simularities.

Also still interested hearing more reports the problem I have is poly drug use to hard tell the sole effects when tapered in the effect has actually been up and down and I have.found it complement benzos but blunts op8s

Baclofen is used for ghb/gbl addiction. For coming off & preventing seizure.
For the harm prevention side of things people attempting to abuse this medication may see the warning on bottles about not taking with alcohol & think well fuck yeah i'm going to take with alcohol it will prob give the increased relaxation effects that valium and xanax does (dangerous not recommending) but 50mg baclofen + alcohol had made me extremely sick. I think it does something to the inner ear balance equilibrium. The ill feeling and inability to walk lasted many hours. It also prevented me from sleeping.

Most certainly no reason anyone should ever take baclofen with alcohol. *small print* I do still take 25mg with alcohol when going to bed because I take it to stop teeth clenching at night, & negative effects not very obvious but also no positive interaction.
