Hey All,

I'm new to the forum as a poster but have been viewing threads and topics for years. I tried searching but didn't find exactly what I'm looking for. Basically, I'm at a bad spot with roxy's. I've done them for fun for several years but never had an issue if I wasn't able to find them. I would have no problem stopping for months if needed or if I couldn't find. Over the last 6 months-year it has gotten much worse. I'm now at the point where I can't go 24 hours after using last without feeling awful. I was going to try the cold turkey method with vitamins, xanax, etc. but it is so tough since I work full time and I can't really afford to take off work for so long. I've done so well at keeping this hidden from my family and majority of friends. I fully know I need to stop and want to so bad, but the physical sickness just won't allow me too. I've gotten my hands on subs before but would just go a week or so using it and then decide to use again.

Anyway, I can't find subs from anyone right now. I'm still on my parent's insurance and don't want them finding out so I was going to go to a doctor that can prescribe subs and pay cash. I know this would be expensive, but had no idea it would be as expensive as it is. They basically want me to go once a week for two months and then monthly. The cost is $250 for first visit and $150 after that plus the cost of the subs. Obviously this is outrageous to pay cash and would be more then I'm even paying now for roxy's.

I'm still considering doing this if I can't find subs form any friends. I understand no doctor will just prescribe a months worth and that be that. Even after all of that, the doctor is so booked that I can't even get an appointment until 3 weeks from now. I have called a few other doctors but they all require that I participate in their detox, rehab, etc. program which costs thousands just to prescribe the suboxone. I am looking to do an outpatient method since I do work full time and think I can get this under control.

So my question is, what type of doctor can prescribe me something to help with my withdrawals? I'm going back to my familys house for Thanksgiving on Tuesday and can't afford to be like that infront of them but also don't want to have to use everyday. I luckily never touched dope either thank god even though it would save me so much money. What is someone supposed to do in my situation? I called my local patient first clinic that does walk ins and they said they would refer me to a treatment center or the ER. I know suboxone can only be prescribed by certain doctors and a certain amount of times, but are there any other drugs that a doctor would be able to prescribe? I know Clonodine is often used and I asked Patient First as well but they said the same thing about Subs. Is there any doctor that would prescribe me a two week or month does of Clonodine until I can get my appointment with the Sub doctor? What doctor is able to prescribe subs? Or perhaps benzos would help a little in addition? I completely understand doctor doesn't want to be liable to just give an addict another drug short term since they are liable, but what is someone supposed to do in my situation? Basically no doctor other then an addiction doctor is willing to prescribe ANY drug that would help with withdrawals? I really don't know what to do and am out of ideas. I just can't take the restless legs, sweats, and just overall hell. I plan to call on Monday the one doctor who won't see me for three weeks and see if he can potentially prescribe something short term until them, but he is fully booked so I'm sure he wouldn't do that without meeting with me.

ANY thoughts at all?! I'm desperate for some help!

Thanks so much all.

Any doctor can prescribe clonidine and as long as they have a valid DEA #, benzos. It just depends on your relationship with your current doctor. If they are aware of your issues with substance abuse and that you want to quit, they may be sympathetic.

Are you worried your parents would simply see what doctor you visited on your insurance statement? It isnt usually itemized but normally does say at least the name of the practice. Perhaps try to find a suboxone doctor who isnt an addiction or pain specialist as you could easier justify a visit.

get kratom extracts man. they are an inexpensive alternative to opiates and they're perfectly legal. What is the level of your opiate addiction? Tramadol, morphine, heroin, fentenyl? Like if you're on fentenyl, taper down to krokadil to heroin to morphine. That's what I did. I tapered down from meth to adderall to caffeine and true I'm drinking three cups of coffee everyday, but at least I ain't smoking crystal meth no more. Taper down man. Whatever you are taking, take less of it each day. then taper down to the less potent drug then dosage. addiction is a hard thing to beat. you can't just have nothing. that'll feel like shit. taper down. idk maybe suboxone will help.

So I don't really have a set doctor since I moved out after college. My family doctor is back home. The tough thing is I called those walk in clinics like patient first since I don't have a regular doctor yet and they all said they they can't do anything for opiate withdrawal and will direct me to the ER or an addiction clinic/program. Since clonodine can be prescribed by most doctors unlike suboxone, I thought that may be a cheaper route and easier to get in the meantime. Am I better off trying to get it based on different symptoms since it is used for other things? I know most doctors won't really like me saying I'm new and trying to get off opiates so can you just prescribe me clonodine? I dont know, maybe they will but from what I've read it doesn't seem that easy. It isn't like I'm trying to abuse them, I legitimately can use it.

Also, I didn't want to use their insurance since it would show up but I was thinking of going somewhere that isn't too specific. Only thing about suboxone is, I'm not sure if all insurance covers programs like that especially since I'd have to go weekly for the first month. If I just went to a regular doctor though and were able to get clonodine, I'd have no problem using their insurance and saying it was for something else. Is it really that though to get it prescribed? I mean am I better off just finding a regular doctor where I live now and becoming a patient? I just feel like if I go and mention my opiate addiction he will recommend me to a specialist.

I usually do 3-5 30mg roxys per day. used to be able to every few days but now I'll just get sick. Does kratom really help? I just have a ton to do next week and really just want to have subs but can't find them, so am thinking Clonodine is the next easiest thing to get prescribed by going to the doctor on Monday. Any guidance on anyone whose gotten it prescribed before and can suggest the best route to go to try to have a doctor at least give me a weeks worth to hold me over would be great.

Thanks so much everyone.

Also to add, benzos definitely help sleep at night and with some of the anxiety. Do you think a doc would prescribe clonodine and benzos together? I really think that would help from what I've read and my experience with benzos, except I obviously don't want to tell a doctor I'm trying to get off one drug and asking for two others, one being a narcotic. It just seems soo expensive to go out of pocket for sub treatment that I'm better off waiting until one of my connects can get them and getting clonodine/benzos to use in the meantime or use as a replacement of subs.

I've wondered top about going to the general dr. And asking if he would prescribe me clonidine and gabapentin and such. If you find out, let me know.

as for getting suboxone, I would call around and see what all the dr.s in your town say. Like the above poster said, some are more full than others, but call the next town, then the next until you find one.

they don't all require meetings and frequent visits. I was able, in the past, to find one that would see me once a month and write the script for a month. He was forty five miles away and $450 a visit. Plus medicine that is $800 and month.

all the doctors that take my insurance are always full. It's always been self pay for me and I've scared and scrounged sometimes to do it,

i li wouldnt advocate this, and I have never done it, but I have heard that doctors will often prescribe you 8-24 mg a day and you probably once stabil only need 1-2mg a day.

Just a piece of advice the DEA is cracking down on doctors writing prescriptions for anything addicting so if I were you I wouldn't just go in asking for specific drugs that is a red flag to most doctors and most general doctors won't treat you for addiction they will refer you out unless you have built a relationship with them then there's a maybe. Doctors nowadays are so scared to lose their lic. its hard to get any medication.

Research kratom, it's freely available ( for the moment ) and will solve your immediate withdrawals. Me? I can't fucking afford 500 bucks a month for a Sub doc and buy the Rx...

We're all in the same boat more or less

Your parents probably won't find out just from the insurance. And they are going to find out about the drug issue anyway and better that they do when you're trying to help it. Tell them TBH.

If you are in a big enough city/metro area with enough different options not all bupe drs are about forcing you to go to programs or all that bullshit, but most of the ones that aren't are strictly cash and carry. And a lot of the cash and carry ones are at least halfway croakers who will write you whatever benzos or stuff you need or desire, mine even was writing for dexedrine and quality sleeping pills. All bupe drs will be willing to rx clonidine and other ancillaries

Suboxone has a patient assistance program btw, go to their website they have coupons if you are self paying at the pharmacy

^this is true. a lot of docs pump up the dose ridiculously high. unless your habit is waaaaay up there you will not need more than 4 or maybe 6mg/day. i went from a bundle a day of quality dope to 8 and could've easily managed it with 4, in fact wish i had.

Kratom will help but you'll wind up addicted to that too, it's a bigger addiction than people, including kratom heads, imagine.

If you have self control you can taper with anything, though, but if you had self control you wouldn't be in this situation in the first place, right? ;)

Good luck though <3

I have to second and third and fourth the kratom. I was on it for the first few days of my withdrawal. I got it at my local headshop. I want to buy offline as I hear you get way more bang for your buck but I wouldnt even know where to start with that so I have zero advice there.

I was taking like 6mg 2x a day for my withdrawal and it was freaking amazing.. it got me through a lot... I would 100% recommend the kratom to help you get through withdrawal.

I will second the caution with kratom. Just kicked a 7+ year addiction that cost me 10k+ dollars easily. Fuck all opiates I say. Best of luck to you.

It depends from what OP is coming off. Subs are definitely very difficult to stop and I suppose you'll need medical help.
Or have some sort of support where you could perhaps use a relaxants or tranquilizers under supervision.

Depending on the drug you are addicted to. You need to do think about how much you want this and if this is something you really wanna do. Don't taper with an opiate. It's a distraction IMO
