Do not take Alpha Lipoic Acid with silver tooth fillings in your mouth

I have noticed that this supplement gets recommended from time to time on here from my extensive reading.

I myself have been ill from mercury poisoning from 8 silver tooth fillings that were placed in my mouth throughout my childhood, 2 of which were drilled out without any safety precaution.

Alpha lipoic acid is a chelator of mercury and one that passes through the blood brain barrier. It is well known when following chelation protocols that you should remove all amalgams before taking any amount of ALA since it can draw out mercury from the tooth filling and create serious mercury symptoms.

I am just worried that many people on here who are healing from MDMA use might start taking high doses of ALA not knowing that they are creating another problem, and I can tell you that many symptoms of mercury poisoning overlap with symptoms of MDMA over-use.

This is not a piece of advise to be taken lightly. I hope this reaches the right people.

This is my 3rd post on here. I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place. I am recovering from years of drug use and this mercury thing. Hope to get to know some of you better over the next few months.

Thanks for reading

Bless

Good information. I don't think I've ever seen this mentioned on here, and new harm reduction info is always appreciated. Thanks, man.

Very interesting, I hope this reaches more ears as well. I wonder if there are ever warnings on packages of ALA? Welcome to bluelight :)

Could anyone please post links to sources in scientific litterature? I can't seem to find any.

Hi Twigs,

What exactly are you looking for in terms of literature? That ALA is a chelator? Or that is passes through the BBB?

Just to show you how potent this stuff is, I am doing a protocol called cutler chelation which involves taking low doses of ALA around the clock. I had my amalgams taken out in 2011 and I have done 60 rounds of chelation (1 round = 3 days) and I am still only on 33mg of ALA.

If I go any higher I start getting redistribution symptoms as there is too much mercury being released for my body to expel.

1 round = 3 days, taking low doses every 3hours to keep blood levels of ALA steady so that any mercury which is dropped by ALA when its lifespan ends, will be hopefully picked up by more ALA in the blood stream. This is why taking 1 off doses of ALA or any other chelator (DMSA DMPS) is not a good idea since you are releasing mercury that is going to be redistributed, the half-life of ALA is 3 hours, DMSA 4 hours and DMPS 8 hours.

I just thought I would explain this for people to get a better understanding.

People I know from mercury detox groups of facebook and forums have become very ill and it has taken some of them a year or more to recover from taking too much of the chelator. By the way it is pronounced 'KEY LAY TOR'

Some do, but most do not. Since there is still this facade from certain health boards that mercury in tooth fillings is safe.

Another thing I will mention is that people tend to get confused between Alpha Lipoic Acid and Alpha-linolenic Acid, the latter being found in fish oils and is completely safe to use in this regard.

First of all, thanks for making this thread and sharing this experience of yours.

Secondly, Alpha-Linolenic Acid is not found in fish, it's the omega 3 acid found in the plant kingdom. You are thinking about EPA and DHA, the omega 3 fatty acids found in animals with fish being a brilliant source.

Oh thanks, yes you are right I am thinking of DHA, wires crossed somewhere along the line, thanks ha :)

just wondering what's the consensus on this, is ALA likely to be safe to use one off for pre-loading with amalgam fillings? thanks
