Hi there,

My name's Jacqui McCoy and I'm completing my PhD at the University of Tasmania, Australia. I'm looking to recruit health professionals and people who use over the counter (OTC) codeine for a study investigating the impact of the proposed rescheduling of OTC codeine products to prescription-only medicines in Australia. This study has been approved by the Human Research Ethics Committee (Tasmania) Network and the School of Psychology at the University of Tasmania (Project H15355). This study has also been reviewed by the Pharmacy Guild of Australia and has received an A1 rating (Survey Approval Number: 829).

The survey can be found by clicking here: https://surveys.utas.edu.au/index.php/677193?lang=en

The survey itself should take no longer than 5 minutes to complete and is easy to use. There is a second phase to the study where participants may be contacted (if you choose to provide contact details) for a further research in this area. Lastly, all participants who wish to provide contact details will have the opportunity to enter a prize draw for one of three $100 Giftpay cards, drawn December 20th 2015.

This study is currently active and will run until the end of December 2015. It's open to health professionals and people who use OTC codeine.

You can find further information at: http://www.media.utas.edu.au/genera...and-the-effects-of-codeine-sales-restrictions

I can be contacted at [email protected]

Hope to hear from you soon,

Jacqui McCoy

This is a great subject for research, very topical here in Australia! The rescheduling is going to be affecting the lives of a lot of people, I'll be very curious to see the results of your study. Hope you get a good response rate.

Completed, thanks.
It's really good to see a survey on these proposed changes. All the best with the research!

Codeine seems to work well for me. I have chronic pain due to various sports injuries, fighting, and some brutal assaults.

Anyways, I was rxd just about every pain medication in the book and I kept asking for something weaker and well the pain clinics are so damn corrupt here.

It is rather difficult to get due to pop culture and the whole lean thing which I think is mainly a cover for heavier habits.

It is the only pain medication I have not developed a high tolerance to and well heroin is illegal as fuck, cut with all sorts of shite so tooting 3-4 bags of some high quality is just too risky of a proposition.

I did finally talk my doctor into giving me a codeine rx but he asked me to find another doctor and rxd me some tramadol to avoid fullscale wds even though at this point I have seizures from wd.

So not taking anything for this is not realistic. I suppose I will just have to wait and speak to my doctor more frankly and explain that he put me on this shit and then sent me off to a pain clinic and I am sorry I abused his trust.

My main concern is that there will be plastic or naxolone in it just like they are doing to morphine. I told him hell no on the morphine with naxalone and that I would not be interested in any form of morphine.

The stuff is over the counter here and you have to sign for it. So I am sure you can guess how things go here. It is just expensive but to me codeine is worth it because I feel at peace, little to no pain and it last a good whiles. That is probably because I have an rx for promethazine and chose to not mention to my doctor the interaction with it.

The promethazine is for my stomach and I am still waiting on my refferall to a GI specialist as I have had stomach problems for a very long time.

Thoughts? I just do what I got to do to get by. There is no way in hell I am taking psych meds for seizures other than benzos which I am rxd and have never abused because I kinda need them to not die due to seizures.
