Mystical Music

Popol Vuh's first album was "Affenstunde"; Moog experiments, droning, percussive and at times dissonant.

After their second album they abandoned electronics as a whole, and produced their third work - "Hosianna Mantra". Which is incredible on a whole other, more composed, level. Classical at times, yet very ethereal and fleeting.

Fuck yeah, i popul vuh are great; as is la monte young - i wholeheartedly agree, nealcassady :)

I just discovered Popul Vuh... oh my god, thank you so much for posting that! I'm listening to their 3rd album, and it's incredibly inspiring. I want to play it for my friends/bandmates when I go to practice later. Seriously, thank you, I have never heard of them before now and that was a damn shame. :)

This thread needs some Koan. I have journeyed to far dimensions while listening to this.

Willow, I think you might like this.

Love - warmest word on earth.
Love - when it takes root and grows.
Spreads light in the midst of a darkness that came to our world came to create hate and boundaries.

Love - without the great words.
Leaves the deep, strong tracks.
Tender hand over a smileless cheek paves a loving way into a frozen mind.

No one can demand but everyone can give.
No one can live without because.
Love creates new life and new hope.
Where hatred rules.

Philosophical Music

I am looking for some recommendations on spiritual and/or philosophical music. Most genres are fine. I just don't like the whiny Good Charlotte sound. Eyedea is currently my favorite artist and I don't think ANYONE can compare.... but anything is possible so I'm asking. He was an underground hip-hop artist. Died in his mid to late 20's. His music is so damn wise. If you haven't listened to him check these out:

The Dive Pt 1 and 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWvUHeYf6WQ -- listen to both parts... it all comes together in part 2

Here for You: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpg-yNJF2ds&list=PLS3LpaYwfEqmnVt12hlGoOQC8pe4AjoY3 - song about interconnectednes... helps when I am feeling down and out

Color My World Mine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lv6VAcPnCHc - song about a man he knew that starts questionining life in interesting ways.

You can thank me later. :p

^Hey, I merged your thread in with our existing 'mystical musick' thread.

Thanks for the post though, I'll have a listen...:)

^ Thanks, Willow. If anyone is a first time Eyedea listener, and you listen to any of the songs in my above post, let me know what you think. I have a feeling that he will strike a chord with anyone who gives him a legitimate chance. Don't be discouraged that it is hip-hop if that's not your style of music.....there is no human being on earth that has made music that even comes remotely to his. Trust me. Eyedea was a wise man and that wisdom is expressed in his music.

Elvis was worn out there but he was good for gospel-type songs.

Kamal is an incredible ambient musician who composes soundscapes and combines them with sounds from the earth (such as whale cries). I feel spiritually transported when I listen to his music.

Paper Moses makes ambient music (as well as electronic, pop, and other styles). This track, "Higher Forms", contains a sample of a Buddhist monk chanting that is encapsulated by lush synths that evoke a feeling of being an infinitely small being floating in an infinitely vast sea.

This was a sweet psychedelic type thing.

The look the male singer in the video gives you is like the look a God-realised/enlightened/awakened to love person would look at you. Very different than how most people look at each other every day.

i love this music, i do - but you must never forget: groove is in the heart.

seriously, how do you relate such transcendent experiences with the Funk?

I came across a software synthesiser called DIN Is Noise recently and listening to their waveform samples nearly brought me to tears. There's something about the way the frequencies echo and transition into each other that really resonates with me and I'm not quite sure how to explain it.

Here's the link, I really wanted to share it.

I find this stunning.....

I don't know if anyone's heard of Tesseract, but it's the same lead singer. And if you know your prog/djent, features Anup Sastry on drums.

This melody never fails to make me tingle all over and envoke feelings that guide me toward that often illusive sensation of transcendence. Makes me rush to fuck basically!

"Flow the colours of the queen.........."

"Let go of all you know, sweet treasure....."
