Sorry for this terribly typed question, just pumped it oust fast, hoping to get insight before dr appt friday
I have ADD (bad, total space cadet) strangely the dope made me focus more, until it did not. Never enjoyed stimulants to abuse, but find popping an adder all, ritalin, or vvyanse to help when i need to get shit done (probably take one every other week: have a shit ton of addderall, dexedrine, and ritalin in my stockade)

My dr. is well versed in my past history of IV heroin use. I straight up told him (thinking honesty with your dr is good). Get panic attacks, the dr would not even prescribe 5 ativan a month to be picked up and dispersed by my dad (since thats all i need for my panic attacks, as they don't happen every week). A nurse prac. wrote that only to get it vetoed. Broke my hand bad would not even get tramadol. Def feel like I am forever labeled a drug addict (which i am to opiates) all other drugs, marijuana, benzos, stimulants, alcohol I can use in moderation, almost all of them are never abused (meaning I take the amount a normal person was prescribed) Perobably only get drunk once a month.

Do you think any dr or psychiatrist would prescribe a drug I know helps, and also gives me a serotonin lift to my depleted system.

any thoughts?

Been clean to there knowledge 6 months ago, but had an unrelated (though def had to do with past abuse) infection i needed seen at the ER.

Find a pain specialist doctor. They will prob want med records but just get back to your hand injury. Dont mention the past abuse, and dont sign off on doc getting med records if you ever are in the hospital in the future for an abuse issue.

Why would I go to a pain specialist for ADD medicine?
Do not want back on opiates

Honesty is NOT the best policy when speaking to your Dr., especially where drug abuse is concerned. Once he/she writes "heroin addict" in your chart, it follows you for life. Plus, that alpne will keep you from getting rx meds when you really need them.

Don't get me wrong, I believe in being truthful prior to surgery (about what meds you're taking).

Stimulants are not the issue, now you're labeled for "potential abuse".

Good luck!

In my country You have to give the doctor permission to get your old medical records, so just change doctor and deny the request for getting your old records.

On another matter, abusing heroin have nothing to do with abusing stimulants. A lot of opiat abusers hate stimulants. But just make your case strong enough and make your symptoms worse than they might be and say that your condition is becoming so bad that it is interfering with your life quality.

On a whole another note - I have been an opiate abuser myself. Recently I broke my shoulder and I get prescribed methadone and codeine for the pain (methadone off because I don't get so high of that). So it is by no way impossible to overcome your "label" as an abuser. But of cause they have a duty as a doctor to keep my pain manageable, but I can't see why that should differ from them be obliged to keep your ADHD manageable.

But as I said, just say that your illness is so bad that it is affecting your life quality in a serious way.

I read it wrong. My bad! Im not sure what to say about ADD meds except you can get some nootropic type stuff that is pretty much the same thing.

Not likely if they are a virtuous MD following the letter of his oath. Prescribing scheduled substances to addicts is not only a potential health danger, it's a big ethical issue for the doctor as well.

Honestly though, a lot of MD's, especially Psychs are willy nilly with the prescription pad. If you're willing to cheat and lie, all you need to do is find the right MD.

I'd say a therapist is more likely to prescribe it. I have health issues and am always insanely fatigued, so a doc gave me Addy and then Ritalin to boost my energy. Got a new GP recently and just told her about my rough times and that Ritalin helps me out in a few ways etc. She kept the script going for me after that. Besides, lower doses of addy or rits wont get you hooked like an opiate, so there is always that case.

Isn't it normal in other countries that you can deny your new doctor access to your old medical history?

My pain doc doesnt have access to any of my stuff because I never released it to him through a form. Thank god, too. The US doesnt play with HIPPA. Only people who get info on you are who you put on the paper.

I SHOULD say that my docs has enough med records of mine to justify prescribing me narcotics. That is all most care about.

We really can't tell you if you will get prescribed certain drugs. That's between you and your doctor.
