So after calling the handful of doctors in my area that have sub programs, I found one with an opening, so Im supposed to meet with them in 2 weeks, Ive been talking to friends about subs, Ive used one years ago, but did it too close of a time to using other opiates, I didnt really feel anything from it,didnt go into PW either.

Im kind of scared of not being able to use H while on this shit though, or else it will make me feel worse, and also kind of worried I will get hooked on the subs and just start to prefer them over the H.

Ive heard different people say different things about subs, some say its a great high, others say it just takes away WDs, so I guess it effects everyone differently, if the subs dont get me high, but do take away the WDs, Im concerned I may get bored with just feeling normal...but then again, thats really all Im getting using dope so often now.

I guess one with buprenorphine is that it is pretty good anti-depressant, perhaps the best of all opioids, so if you suffer from clinical type of depression you might like the smooth effect it gives boosting your mood.

But in terms of opioid effects it just lacks something IMO. Even without tolerance. Use only a lowish dose if you still want to use heroin, not the full maintenance dose.

Well, Id like to get off dope, but not exactly for the right reasons, dope is just taking WAAAYYY too much of my money, and while I do get some euphoria off it, my tolerance is up there pretty good, and mostly copping a large bag just takes the sickness away for awhile, Im worried about being able to live my life knowing I cant cop and use anymore, but I guess all addicts go thru this at first, its comparable to breaking up with a great girlfriend! lol

Where in the world are you? That seems like a real f-around to get onto a program!

I'm in Australia, here - I can wake up any day I like, go to just about any pharmacy at all (they as almost all support the program) and ask to be a patient there, I then go and scan my drivers license, go into a doctors (helps to make an appointment a couple days in advance, but most support drop-ins on the day too, just takes a lot longer in the waiting room) - the doctors who give these scripts are always flat-out, so the appointment usually goes for about 3min - basically they take my photo and stick it on their computer, then write out a script for either methadone or sub (which ever I ask for) then I go back to the pharmacy and they fill it, payment is generally made in advance, but it doesn't have to be.

Point being, I can make the decision to be on the program at 9am and be happily dosed by mid-day.

The only way subs get you high is if you don't have an opiate tolerance. Pretty much anyone going on to suboxone to help them get off of a full agonist opiate is just going to reduce/eliminate WD and reduce/eliminate cravings.

After using them long enough you do get hooked on them, if you want to call it that. It's more like you replaced a full agonist opiate with a partial agonist. Except it gets you out of addict mode and allows for an easier transition to move away from whichever opiate you're addicted to.

I honestly feel like I would have never been able to stop using heroin if it wasn't for suboxone.

Yeah, it is a wonder drug if/when you reach that point. But, I always caution people not to make light of the decision to go onto suboxone.. I always recommend people early into heroin addiction to try kicking without maintenance drugs and only if they reach the end of the road should they consider something like long-term suboxone, because it's a pretty fucking serious life-decision with huge consequences, particularly if you can't get any/many take-away doses.

My stupid self trusted my doctor and I took Suboxone for a little over two years for pain management, however I've never Done Heroin so I don't know about your specific concern. One advice of warning though, I'm on month three of Suboxone withdrawal, certainly not fun. Quitting anything isn't easy, however Suboxone is a great tool to help start you off ~ only use it if you are ready and can handle getting off the Subs as well because withdrawal from any Buprenorphine is going to be very hard too.

As far as Subs, when I was on them and tried taking anything like Vicodin, Methadone or any other kind of opiate based pain killer I wouldn't feel crap, I even feel like it slowed down my sex drive and turned me into some stale person... I didn't even care to drink (not a heavy drinker to begin with though). Good luck!

Lucky you! Here in my state (KY), laws are in place so only certain doctors can write scripts or give out sub, plus each of those doctors can have a certain number of sub patients at one time, in my entire area, there are maybe 10-12 doctors, and this is a fairly large area!

seems like they want to make it difficult to obtain, expensive as hell too.
