Hi everyone been a long time reader here first time posting but my question is why do some people think their addiction is some how (Better) then mine is because they shoot heroin and I pop oxys? Just recently went to a rehab facility and there was a lot of H users there and they all seemed to have the same reaction saying stuff like oh you're only here for oxys oh that's nothing! I know I didn't have the biggest addiction in the world (150 to 200mg)of oxy a day ya it may not have been blasting h but to me it's a real addiction that ruined my life lost everything my job my car my parents are paying my rent for me (the toll my addiction had on my family is far worse of a feeling then what I did to myself) but back to the main? Why do h users or even just IV users think they are better than me and I'm weak for not being able to quit a few oxys a day

Ps I'm totally sorry I didn't use the swim reference I totally spaced it's my first post it won't happen again

It's actually their addiction is worse.... A better addiction is no addiction.

I do know that IV use is rough and is probably worse but at rehab people act like I don't belong there because my addiction wasn't a needle I still feel like I have a right to seek treatment I dunno how to explain it all that well but they made it seem like they were "cooler" than me for banging H

And I was still in the same state of mind they were in meaning do anything to use so I don't see much of a difference I understand why you said theirs is worse in a way I don't think it was addiction is Alot in your mind I don't care if you only take one hydro a day if you feel like you need it to function and have a (normal) life and will do almost anything to get it its still the same

I've heard some of the "snob" stories too at rehab. I was addicted to oxy also and it was enough to ruin my life as I knew it. Don't let it bother you, the important thing is focusing on your recovery. That's all that really matters. If you want to visit our Recovery sub forums, you will find lots of nice people going through similar situations. Welcome to Bluelight! :)

No we don't use swim at all here, or my purple unicorn, neighbor's alpaca, etc. You can speak freely here, unlike other sites! <3

I have gotten this from smack heads and i have been addicted to IV morphine, dilaudid and coke. I once had this twat tell me when i was banging about 54mg's of hydromorphone to a shot (a very very high dose that would be lethal to most people) that i wasn't as bad of a addict as him because he was banging the big H where as i was just banging dilly. Which was a load of shit because this person didn't get nearly as bad physical withdrawal symptoms as i got coming off dilly. Another person once told me that coke/crack (i was addicted to it and went totally bonkers on it as well) was not a "real" addiction because it didn't produce physical dependence. Personally id rather kick the worst opiate habit then try and suffer through that psychological torture.

So my advice would be ignore the snobs and focus on getting well. There is no such thing as a good addiction let alone a fucking better one 8(

The fact that they would dismiss your addiction as nothing means they are obviously a bit misinformed and are stupid in thinking the more drugs you do the more hardcore you are. Its good your taking care of it now instead of being an idiot and going on to heroin or chasing oxy to the gates of insanity like lots of people do.

Just tell them I don't want to end up like you losers going nowhere in life so I'm taking care of my addiction while I can. But you know a 120+mg oxy habit is still brutal to come off cold turkey in both physical symptoms and mental. Also the way you say a "better" addiction shows they are getting to you there is no such thing as a better addiction but if there was yours would be the better since your taking care of it early and it hasn't gotten completely out of control.

I had a roommate in detox who was in for weed while I was next to him withdrawaling off heroin and oxy. I never made fun of the guy he wants help he is ruining his life spending 50 bucks a day on weed and his kids were suffering so good on him for making a change and good on you don't listen to stupid junkies and their war stories do your own thing and don't think about drugs or talk war stories with those losers it males you glamorise drug use and you forget the bad parts after a while. Its not even allowed in most rehabs or detoxes anyway.

Thank you guys you all seemed to understand what I was saying and dang paranoid 54 mg of dilaudid is Alot I don't even use it and I know that I'm glad we still have you here with us buddy because like you said that could have been fatal and as far as me using swim I'm sorry I've just seen so many sites where people get mad if you don't use it lol but thanks for telling me

There's been some good replies here.

I would like to add saying it's pride. Many drug addicts take pride in being able to do the most drugs, harder drugs, higher doses, and think that it somehow makes them tough or cool. It's a part of the prideful ego. Don't worry about it. Any addiction, whether it is to drugs, alcohol, weed, gambling, sex, food, that is ruining every aspect of your life can have the same destruction. Be proud that you are choosing to better yourself and your life. Try to focus on your own recovery not anyone else's. I really wish you the best :)

They weren't thinking they were cooler than you in that respect........that were probably thinking in their minds, rehab is for heroin & stronger opiates than oxy pills.

Its a stigma put into their minds from Hollywood movies, etc.......

Rehab is for anyone that is hooked on anything that has been controlling their lives to the extreme.......

If you want some respect, you could tell them.you were working the corners for a few oxys, maybe then they might see you in a different light?

LoL......come on man, ignore the haters & focus why you're there for & try to better your life.

Sounds like a game where the winner is really the biggest loser. I could only feel sympathy for someone whose biggest achievement in life is the apparent size of their adDICKtion.

Good for you coming off the oxies. I don't care what anyone says, oxycodone causes serious withdrawal symptoms.

Oxy is no fucking joke and it'll run your life just like h! Fuck those clowns dude, just do your thing. Those dudes ain't your friends and they ain't your family, those are the only people's opinions that should matter to u.
If someone says oxy addiction isn't on par with an h addiction then IMO they don't know wtf they're talking about. 200mg of oxy daily is a lot of shit bro! That's gonna get you just as sick as dope. It costs a shit ton more than dope too. Tell those dudes to go fuck themselves bro. When your clean they'll probably be blowing dudes for a bag since they're still in that junk bomb mindframe thinking more is better or cooler. This drug shit ain't cool man, it fucking sucks! Waking up at 3am sick cause your last shot/pill didn't hold u isn't exclusive to dope, that's for damned sure!

Firstly,no addiction is a "good"or"better"addiction.Secondly, whether you're on heroin, pills whatever,if that's your level and what you're used too then you will have withdrawls and the will suck.
I remember when I was on the methadone clinic, people would get into a kind of race with each other increasing their dose. It's like some kind of sick source of pride for some people to be a bigger junkie than everyone else.Ridiculous.Just ignore them and do your own thing, concentrateing own your own recovery and ignoring the "addiction bigshots".
