What did you think of Anthony Fantano's review of Reflektor? I know he can sound like an egg head, but I love his reviews. Do you think a 5 was too low? I have seen him give way worse (IMO) albums better scores. I think he had really high expectations out of this and that let down was reflected in his review. He was really tearing it to shreds by the end.
 
James Murphy may have been what ruined it. This is why I didn't recommend this album to you. I didn't want to ruin them for you before you got to hear their true genius. He doesn't cover every song I feel like well enough. And Afterlife is my favorite song on the album and he dismissed it so quickly. Not mention hating on Here Comes the Night?! Stop pretending this is a James Murphy album just because he produced it damnit! The dude does take himself too seriously. His opinion is not the end all on this album. Sure the album is all over the place, but after recording a Grammy reward winning album I'll allow one of my favorite bands to do whatever the the fuck they want to. I think they should be allowed to do that. They don't really have to impress Vloggers.

I love Reflektor, It's just that I love all of their albums a lot more than Reflektor..
 
He does take himself very seriously. That is why I lol so much. But I really like him. I can't help it. I just wonder where he gets all the shit that goes through his head and the time to review all the crap. At any rate. I will be sure to avoid listening to it. I haven't yet. I have liked some of the stuff I have listened to, not all. Not enough to give you an opinion yet. I tried to have my husband watch a video (Japaneese metal, since he is into Japaneese Anime music) today, and in 3 seconds he decided he didn't like it. It infuriated me into a near rage. You have to give something some attention before you decide you do or don't like it, especially if it is something that people are saying is worth the attention. If not you are dismissing that person. And that is bullshit.

what is the deal with their current tour? covering a song related to each city they're playing and also special guests at each show or something? david bowie came out with them the other night, which i don't think was the first time. pretty cool. i know nothing about the band other than their popular stuff, but they sound okay.

Laika really got me into this band.
The Funeral is really a phenomenal album. Truly.

And to Laika. I think the song Rebellion Lies most reminds me of you. So many ways to take it. But for you, overcautiousness, I see that. But you have to let go and trust. The battle of being who you are vs conforming to what others want you to be. You always seem to like those that don't follow. Thus that part. I could discuss more but.....

You don't need to be concerned. I know you are worried about me getting in some trouble or something, bah. So not an issue here honey. But thanks for your worry. I hope you are feeling better than you were last time we talked. I'm taking some time off. Let's call it a mental vacation. SO glad you introduced me to this band. You're such a good friend. Oh, and I was gonna start that scrapbook---wanted to use the Ocean's 11 template, and then make The Funeral Album cover translucent, and put some stuff about NEMD but you took your Dragon picture down. Oh well. I won't be able to do it.
OH, one more thing. Kitty and I forgive you for that little thing you did with the you know the other day. We worked it out.
I know you were just angry and hurt.
