Opioids Codeine cough syrup

I have some prescribed codeine cough syrup that's been in my fridge for a while - 2-3 years. I know the drug itself doesn't go bad, but the syrup now has white solid chunks floating around in it. Any idea what these could be? I don't know whether to discard them or mix them back in, or if maybe they're the good stuff.

Impossible for us to say as we dont know all the ingredients in the syrup.

If its been opened then i would say no as its been exposed to bacteria.
If its still sealed then the white lumps are likely just sugar and should be safe.

The golden rule is: if in doubt of its safety..dont drink.

Codeine isn't expensive. If you really want to to it just go buy a new bottle!
