I agree. Oakenfold's Tranceport is absolutely amazing. Kimball Collins, George Acosta, DJ DB, Bad Boy Bill (his stuff ALWAYS gets my blood pumpin) and Daft Punk (yes, DP. They funkin rock. Period) are some of my all time faves.
Music is such a wonderful thing. It never fails to make you smile at the end of a tough day. It never fails to jerk tears during the sappy scene of a movie (or in real life). It plays with our emotions in a way that nothing else ever could. I spend at least 10 hours a day listening to music. If it wasn't for music, I don't know what I'd do with myself.

nice thread :)
i'm just still being amazed regularly when i hear like minded people (read: electronic music junkies) talking about their interests. you will never find the fans of britney or backstreet boys talking about how the music moves them or how sublime this or that track is :p
of all the different types of music i've listened to, i've come to realised that i feel the most comfortable listening to electronic music (trance/progressive/techno etc). words wouldn't do justice to how i feel when i'm really enjoying a track or a night out at a party, but there's always a sense of belonging; a knowing smile to the person dancing beside me, the shouts and cheers in unison when the dj drops a big track.
no drugs need to be involved, really. yes they do add to the fun, but good trance don't need no chemicals to begin with :D
like what vurtomatic said, music has been pretty much a staple in my life; at times i've gone without it, but always, i get drawn back to it and the love affair begins again. it's like a silent hand that knows how to touch me, comfort me, guide me.
this shit is something which i am thankful for :)

ambient disjointed sounds
flowing and melding into
a whole
cohesive
soundscape
that settles in gently, sinks into the surroundings.
someone talking
words were spoken
i know not
it doesnt matter
speech becomes words becomes sounds becomes
music
lush
electronic
bleeps
disjointed
touches on the mind
caresses on that and my body
i close my eyes
i see with my mind
a world familiar and alien
sound becomes visuals becomes space
i want to scream
becomes words becomes sounds becomes visuals becomes space becomes
music
becomes space becomes visuals becomes sounds becomes words
and i opened my
eyes through coloured lenses
sounds becomes space becomes visuals
opened my eyes

I just heard Oakenfold's Perfecto Fluoro today and it may well be the greatest electronic album I've ever heard. I listened in the car on a long ride and it damn near ran me off the road on more than one occasion. They should put a warning label on it saying "do not drive under the influence of good trance".

No album has floored me like this since Tool's Lateralus way back before I discovered EDM.

This is a great thread, btw.

Jody, We have like the same taste yo! ;p I have every one of those cd's you mentioned except for the Kimball Collins ICU disc. Will have to get that one off Amazon asap. And yes, I do agree that Oakie's Tranceport is THE trance album by which all others are judged. I hadn't listened to that since '98 and put it on earlier this year out of the blue after smoking a blunt filled with some A+ bud and it was like hearing the album again for the first time - blew my fuckin' mind AWAY!!! Listening to it I wondered if Oakenfold had any idea of the greatness that he has touching upon while making it back then. It is truly like hearing Michaelangelo(sp?) sculpt the statue of David!

BTW, This is my first post but I have enjoyed reading BL threads for the past couple of YEARS. I know, I know... I am a lazy Fuck who should've just taken the 2 seconds to register instead of lurking for so long!
