everybody has a bad beat story or 10...
i played in a tourney last night and was involved in an epic beat. i am normally on the receiving end but, last night, it was not me who got screwed
down to 4 of us in a tourney that started with about 20 people. there were 2 big stacks (~60k chips) and 2 smallish stacks - one woman had about 35k and i was small stack with about 20k . blinds are 4k/8k. i was utg and looked down at::
any ace so i ship it. guy to my left folds. small blind folds. big blind snap calls and turns over:
sigh. just my luck she has a monster in the bb but i have outs.
flop comes:
of course i saw the ace of diamonds right in the window and got really excited. flop a huge 2 pair but she hits one of her 2 outs for a set. now i'm down to 2 outs (assuming no runner runner 2s) because my 2s are gone and miles behind.
turn came:
a blank. on to the river:
boom! hit a 2-outer on the river. holy shit.
so i'm now in 3rd place and looking good to cash at least 3rd. two hands later i get 77 and ship it. bb thinks for a while then calls with KQ and hits a Q and i'm done.
love poker!
