Nutritional & Herbal Supplements for Anxiety!

I Find camomile very useful, i only drink it in a tea.
I Am looking to make some strong essential oils in the form of E-cig Fluid so that i can get the effects of it even when im on the go.
I use filtered water to reduce the chlorine because it makes the taste bad :p
I really recommend camomile, when you make the teas though make sure you put a plate over the top of the cup so you trap all the essential oils, and leave it to sit for 5 minutes at least, when you lift the plate let the droplets drip into the cup.

When you look at the top of the surface of the tea in the light, you should see little oily reflections. These are the essential oils.

Another Great anti anxiety herb ive found is Rhodiola Rosea. The only downside to that is you shouldn't really use other drugs with it, as they may interact due to its MAOI properties. I found tyrosine + rhodiola rosea very helpful in controlling my cannabis intake (I think i was using it daily because i was stressed, but for me personally i don't think daily cannabis use does me any good)

Already mentioned is Valerian too.

There are also more powerful anti anxiety herbs out there too but as mentioned they can have side effects and withdrawel so it is important to not use them for prolonged periods of times. Use them as tools, And when you are using them try to learn coping mechanisms, where as you can use the more milder anti-anxiety herbs such as camomile more often.

...Theres also passionflower

So many herbs, heh

I've never found anything (legal) and without many side effects that beats anxiety like 500-1,500mg of L-tryptophan and 2,000mg of taurine and a single 100% DV serving of magnesium.

I own

Kava
Passion Flower
Valerian root
GABA (total placebo)
St. John's wart

Honestly, none of it works like L-tryp, Taurine and magnesium. Too much L-tryp will put you to sleep, however.

I use either 1g or 2gs of Lysine every day. I take it on an empty stomach once or twice a day (1g each time).

Me too. I take many other supplements but with this one I certainly noticed the benefits.

Stress also depletes all water soluble vitamines. So vitamin b complex and vitamin c don't hurt either.

interesting about the Melatonin

valerian/kava work but large doses of the former is needed to be that efficacious and with kava you end up consuming chemicals that may impede progress against anxiety (MAOI-B and NRI properties)

I mean it works well if you're not overly sensitive to hallucinogens but shouldn't be a long term thing in my opinion. Evidence: its a mild psychedelic (how many people who take these every day end up mentally well?)

I took 5-HTP for at least a year 200mg per day. It works for depression (though eventually your body down-regulates naturally produced Serotonin) and anxiety sort of. SSRIs are probably more mentally and physically valid, meaning easier on the mind and not cardio-toxic if taken for a prolonged period of time; that's not to say they don't have their own problems. I just want to stress that SSRIs are indicated for anxiety as a first-line defense.

I can vouch for aniracetam for mild anxiety(~500mg, more and it may slightly increase anxiety IME.. however then again I just took 6 grams and I'm tapering off clonazepam and I feel much more relaxed.). Aniracetam for me has two stages(presumably it's effects, and then the effects of it's metabolites), the first 2-4 hours are not as anxiety reducing, and at higher doses such as 6 grams increase anxiety to some extent.. nothing bad even during my tapering, but then after those effects wear off("nootropic" like effects...enhanced colors/sound/creativity/verbal fluency) it turns into a much more relaxed feeling. So, while its certainly not the best for anxiety it does help and the other positives make it highly worth it.. for me at least.

Lysine seems to help, but since I am tapering off of benzos it's hard to tell if something helps or if I'm just having a good period of time. Also, L-lysine is dirt cheap in bulk powder... so it's not really so silly to take as a supplement(although I 100% agree with modifying your diet).

fish oil is actually a really good one

I take that, magnesium, and green tea

all together they diminish my anxiety significantly

This, x100. It is much more cost effective (& tasty) to make dietary modifications rather than eat capsules of semisynthetic amino acids. (note the "natural source" amino acids can still be produced from fermentation et cetera)

You could say that about almost any supplement found in food. I find that doses of around 1.5g of L-tryptophan are very relaxing and good for falling asleep. It also aids in lowering blood pressure. Getting 1.5g in meat at once would be difficult.

^ all of those together would probably be pretty effective

not even close bud

fish oil, mg and green tea?... Mind citing some studies for their effectiveness in anxiety types? Maybe you will find a few cortisol related issues with fish oil...

Regardless, you could cut a benzo into a microscopic amount and it would still do more for cost effectiveness, efficacy, and practicality.

Oh, and the scented candle the bath are for the most part psychological, but in all liklihood offering more psychological anxiolysis than all those supposive 'anxiety' supplements combined.

I took the time to find abstracts and articles from reputable sources because I get the impression you haven't frequented this site enough to know that these three substances are effective on their own at attenuating anxiety.

that statement about benzos is wrong, especially regarding theanine, which has been shown to work directly with GABA

people will agree with me
