I am going to say that I think ones reasons behind wanting to ejaculate on a partners face are far more important than the act itself. The basis for saying the increased frequency of facials in porn represents a change in male sexual psychology in the West is based on the linked to article's observation that its prevalence in porn is a relatively recent trend. The assumption is that sex acts that porn watching men find hot will be depicted in porn and the most popular depictions will sell more porn. If facials were going on behind closed doors in the 1970s and early 80s at the same level they are now then why wasn't it depicted in porn earlier? I'm not saying either one of us is wrong or right, obviously it's very difficult to guess, just giving a rationale for what I've stated.

However, this is somewhat beside the point because on average I think there is moderate psychological distance between what men find hot in porn, and the reasons they find it hot during solitary masturbation, and what they find hot in actual relationships with another person or persons.

My interest in sexual practices is not confined to the subject of facials. I didn't mean to indicate that. I find this particular topic interesting because sexual behavior is largely hidden and because engaging in it draws on deep human instincts, which is to say sexual culture is much less self-conscious and more purely reactive than most cultural trends. Therefore, any specific trends in what's happening either in porn (an increase in the depiction of facials) or in private sexual relationships may represent deeper and more psychologically revealing changes in human consciousness than what we can derive from studying changes in more overt forms of culture.
