The Music Social Gig v. I'll Trade You My Shirt For A Grilled Cheese

http://www.billboard.com/articles/c...-order-bizarre-love-triangle-30th-anniversary

any care to comment or just share their appreciation for the song ?

kinda crazy cause i've been playing it like crazy the past couple days, totally oblivious to the fact.

somethings are just too good for words, that song is one of those things.

-- and by the time the band got to "Bizarre," every element in the song was sequenced besides the vocals and some bass. Rather than rob the song of its humanity, the flooding beds of Fairlight-programmed synths and orchestral hits just come off sounding like the distracting chaos of a cluttered brain, with Sumner's besieged vocal at the middle trying to make sense of it all.

do y'all recall stickers "drum machines have no soul" ornot surprised that is the lamest google image search result ever! lol dude had one at amoeba... of course /me rolls eyes.

I love that song, as well as Blue Monday. Those two songs were the soundtrack to my mopey teenage years 8)

heck yea dude. nelly furtado is such a dope artist. this girl told me she liked before she worked with timbaland and went pop, i was like uhhhhh... hehe

great soundtrack to the mopey years. blue monday is so lit. one of the illest bands of all time!

like i'm over enthused af rn, so i gotta drop this.

the tour bus footage reminds me. timbaland would just use the hotel room to shower, any free time was spent in studio on the bus. grindinnnnnn *pharell voice.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beck this dude is so dope!

By 1993, Beck was living in a rat-infested shed near a Los Angeles alleyway with little money.[12] Bong Load issued "Loser" as a single in March 1993 on 12" vinyl with only 500 copies pressed.

lol, i'm readin this wiki like the gospel

o and he produced the charlotte gainsbourg recent album. too ill.

Have you heard his record "one foot in the grave"?
His early stuff is great. I love "mellow gold" too.

no i haven't, and to be honest i'm not all that familiar with his discography. i looked it up rn tho. good looks on hippin me to that. interesting to hear a different sound from him than i'm use to. i can def dig it, tho i prefer his more upbeat stuff that lifts my spirit like...

Electric Music And The Summer People

we going to look back at this guy as one of the best...

fr, "wow" is so ill, he keep gettin better. truly an inspiration.

over enthused drop! /me sparks cherry pie

Some of his early stuff has this blues/folk/hip hop cross-over that is really interesting.

And then, there's this:

=D

so bizarre, yet so good. would be a perfect song for a warm day, wandering around town on L.

Rip Torn once referred to Beck as a "hillbilly from outta space".. I think this song he did with the French electro band Air is a sterling example of what Rip was talking about. Awesome tune.

Just found this acoustic cover of gangster's paradise, pretty good.

Kind of inevitably makes me think of the much more well known (I think)

The Gourds (often misattributed to Phish, among others, at least in the Napster days), cover of Gin & Juice

I'll be seeing The Butthole Surfers later this year:

(trigger warning btw..)

dark, yet beautiful.

three things you can watch forever

frfr write that in stone, guard it. poetic af lol.

the media is really buggin about the latest taylor swift single/video ? so lame.

it just got THAT much better cause i just learned "The song contains an interpolation of the 1991 song "I'm Too Sexy" by Right Said Fred, therefore Fred Fairbrass, Richard Fairbrass, and Rob Manzoli of the band are credited as songwriters."

Yes, I'm not sure how TS re-branded herself as a tortured artiste but it seems she has. Personally, I loved 1989--a beautiful gem of rock candy pop. But I don't think she handles gravitas well.

i'm with ya on 1989 ( i remixed the album too )

for me, no other music gets me through hard times like my favorite pop tunes. i understand the points critics are making, tho none of that enters my mind when i'm listening to music.

it's just hard to avoid being online ( http://www.dazeddigital.com/music/article/37165/1/taylor-swifts-new-song-is-here-lets-unpack ) which i why i brought it up.

it is a darn good song imo, and super cool video. right said fred rockin with it https://www.rightsaidfred.com/NewsDetails?NewsId=RSF_NW_36
