LSD and how to increase your visual hallucinations

Hi, I'm sure this has been said and realised by many people but there are many who don't realise it. I myself was fairly unclear until recently despite doing a fair amount of lsd in the past.

If you can't be bothered to read just skip down, I've highlighted the realisations.

I like to think of lsd visuals in three kinds, closed eye visuals, moving visuals (colors, blurry lines) and scenes. Anyway its the scenes I want to talk about. For people who don't know what I mean by scenes it's when the objects in your vision start to change/move, this can range from seeing objects differently to an entire fantasy land appearing in front of your eye's.

(interesting side note, I found that even when my vision changes into something totally surreal its always composed of the general objects/colors in my vision, just rearranged beyond recognition a lot of the time)

Anyway as for making these scenes appear its very simple. I originally though I could force it by sort of feeling my body and environment making them still but my body sort of vibrates and rushes, I can do this off of drugs. Anyway now I realise its far more simple:

'DON'T MOVE YOUR EYE'S'
...try staring into space and perceiving the whole room, also zoning out might help, experiment with what works for you just keep your eye's still that's the key

So if you want amazing visuals do this, keep your vision very still, don't look around and just wait a bit for stuff to happen. Also I find looking at a point in space and taking in my entire vision produces better results but try staring at an object as well. I just find it easier to perceive the scene without moving my eyes if I'm not focused on one object, just make sure your looking at different parts of your vision with your mind not your eyes.

Moving your eyes significantly causes the visuals to disappear. I also realised why this occurs

'When you move your eyes your vision changes and you end up looking at a completable new image, there's also the fast moving colors inbetween. When we do this our brains automatically fire up to deal with the increase of sensory information, also maybe to subconsciously check the new image for anything of interest/danger. This momentary increase of brain activity causes your brain to re-evaluate its vision and the lsd visuals disappear. Keep your vision very still though and your brain doesn't pay too much attention to it, time for the lsd to do it's thing

I'm sure most people realise some of this during the trip but its very easy to forget afterwards and very important for new people. It's also very easy to forget to do this during the trip even if you're thinking about it beforehand. Similar to when you forget you're tripping and wonder why you're just wondering around and not really doing anything. Might want to write it down on a piece of paper 'keep your eye's still' and maybe 'you don't need to be doing anything your tripping and it's an activity!'. Haven't done lsd since the trip I figured this out so I haven't tried writing anything down but I'm sure having 'keep your eyes still' in writing will be very useful for the trip, other thing probably more humorous if you happen to read it at the right time rather than trip changing.

Anyway that's my thoughts, let me know if you guys agree, maybe some people's visuals work completable differently but most people I've done it with seem to agree

I do agree that staring on psychedelics can make the visuals more intense. I've also observed that what you should stare at really depends on what you hope to see!

If you want to see shifting, moving, bending, morphing etc, look at patterns (complex ones in particular), edges of objects, or very detailed objects.

If you're looking more for the overlaid patterns and colours you see on psychedelics then it's always better to stare at something rather plain, as they're very easy to miss otherwise (one of the many reasons I'm not a huge fan of watching films while tripping).

Go immerse yourself in nature! I find that the visuals on almost any psych are the most intense when I'm outside.

Oh yeah very good point, the stuff you look at is very important for what you see, you really just need to experiment

When I'm tripping inside I go around trying to find good perspectives where there are lots of interesting object in my vision to form a scene with. Bright colors and bold shapes are good, textures and patterns are very nice but I find if they are too intricate its bad, almost like there's already enough stuff going on so my eyes don't do anything, similar to music visualizers some of the time. However looking at an intricate pattern up close is amazing.

I definitely agree that being in nature while tripping is great, secluded fields with forest around is my favourite setting. The effects are definitely different but I wouldn't say more intense, the epic space and being able to look at clouds and stars definitely adds something though.

Still a sick house and garden is still my favourite setting in recent times, having everything you need close by, food drink toilet warmth bed. Also a safer feeling than being outside maybe not knowing where you are, potential strangers nearby.

If your close to nature great but if its a walk and a car ride to get back home I wouldn't want to risk it

That's a very interesting hypothesis, did you figure that out on acid? I wouldn't be surprised if it was true.

Thanks man :) yeah I did, just came to me as I was just moving eyes quickly from one side to the other trying to think why this stopped visuals. Took a long time to put it into words in my head so I could write it down though

If you do this now you can sort of see what I mean when your vision changes. I can almost feel the brain activity but might just be sensation of moving eyes/imagining it/being stoned lol

Yeah, I have also noticed that about keeping your eyes still. I love to watch the fluffy clouds floating buy when I am tripping out in nature.

Keeping my eyes still, and focusing on the clouds gives me awesome visuals of the clouds twisting and turning, making shapes etc, but if I move my eyes they reset back for a second before beginning again.

I do the same watching tattoos move around on my skin, they look awesome until i move my eyes, then the tattoo is instantly back to normal for a second, before beginning the movement again

I think being able to control your eye muscles is a necessary skill for any aspiring psychonaut - there's a lot you can do to alter to nature of your visuals simply by altering the focus of your eyes. Also, weed helps.

Interesting idea I'll give it a go next time I trip.

If in doubt though just add nitrous oxide and be overwhelmed by visuals no matter what your eyes are doing.

Depends how much acid I take, if I take enough it gets to the point where I don't have to keep my eyes still, my visuals will be going fucking off, constantly. Sometimes even more so when I move my eyes, because the more vaguely I see an object the more likely my brain is to think it's something it's not. That being said one of the craziest things I ever saw on acid was when I just stared blankly at a wall with my eyes still and it sort of ripped into another dimension, very hard to explain.

Aniracetam!

Brings the visuals much more up to the front of your attention. Very hard to describe but definitely noticeable. You should try it.

It's funny that...I actually feel A HELL OF A LOT more safe tripping outside in the woods than sitting in my house. I don't get paranoia on Psych's, but for weed or even when sitting sober I find when i'm sitting in my house alone I can get paranoid as fuck, which is really strange. As soon as I go out and up the woods, even at midnight in the pitch black, I feel safe.

In keeping with the thread, there is nothing bettter than going up the woods, lying on your back and staring up the length of the tree's and into the sky. How about you try that next time? Just stare without moving your eyes right into the sky. I've had my craziest visions whilst looking up in the sky!

Oh and I don't know if I've ever noticed that not moving the eyes helps increase the likelihood of scenes/visions (I often close my eyes) but I am tripping tomorrow or Saturday so will keep this in mind. Thanks mate!

Staring into the sky at night on LSD is amazing. Lines of stars appear between the ones that are really there, and it looks amazing. Other psyches don't seem to have that magic with the sky. I've had that visual every time i've stared into the sky on acid, but never when trying the same on other psychedelics, even ones with strong visual effects.

Also, if I need to say this, stay the fuck away from TV/computer screens, unless going outside is not an option, and even then, just use it for music visualizations or something.

From another forum and a person I've found to be very reliable in the past
Passionflower increases the “spiritual” qualities of LSD, making it more like a full blown entheogen, more along the lines of ayahuasca, more “visionary”. It doesn’t exactly make it stronger, just sort of alters the experience. The dose used is often 1-2 tablespoons.

Clove oil helps it absorb faster. This is believed to be one reason why it potentiates things like LSD. Clove oil has been used in many topical medications for this very reason. It helps compounds pass through membranes in a way similar to DMSO. By taking something like LSD with clove oil, it’s going to penetrate the walls of the stomach faster, hit the brain faster, and be slightly more potent because of that alone.

Clove oil is also psychoactive on it’s own and apparently potentiates the visual effects of many psychedelics. I don’t know exactly how this works. The dose used is low, about 3-5 drops. Some people need more. It’s best to experiment with dosage on it’s own prior to mixing it with other things. You want to use just enough to feel it, but not enough to get drunk from it. The drunkenness it causes is unpleasant and a sign too much is used.

Cinnamon bark oil (about 5 drops) potentiates LSD by releasing adrenalin.

Cayanne pepper (about 800 mg) potentiates LSD by releasing adrenalin.

Nux vomica (100 mg) potentiates LSD quite a bit by increasing all sensory stimuli.

3-5 Datura stramonium seeds potentiate LSD.

The following herbs potentiate LSD by acting synergistically on various 5-HT sites. For this reason they should be dosed at about the same time as the LSD for best effects.

The oils elemicin, myristicin, safrole, and methyl chavicol potentiate the effects of LSD, but only if used with the proper enzyme inhibitors. For these a dose of 100-200 mg is used along with the proper enzyme inhibitors. The potentiation can be extreme because these agonize 5-HT2 sites specifically.

Surprisingly valerian root oil potentiates the effects of LSD. A dose of 200 mg is used. This agonizes several 5-HT sites also agonized by LSD. Smaller doses act as a mild sedative only. You must use a large dose or its not effective at all.

German chamomile (10 cups of flowers or 3 drops of the essential oil) potentiates LSD very mildly. It agonizes 5-HT4. Smaller doses act as a mild sedative only. You must use a large dose.

Black cohosh potentiates LSD by agonizing several 5-HT sites. I don’t know the dose to use.

This isn't always the solution. When you found your sweetspot, you don't want to dose higher. But maybe you do want more visuals, without the rest of the effects becoming stronger. I don't get very many visuals on any psychedelic, but the head trip can be very profound. If I take too much, I can't enjoy the visuals so I might as well not have them. The solution for me is to find good combinations, and LSD + 2C-B does the trick for me.

When you shift gaze, you activate actual different groups of braincells which exist to perceive in that direction. I believe they become somewhat dormant when unused, but this is why it can throw things off. At the same time, I don't agree that this has to detract, in the right psychedelic context it's going to make things that much crazier.

Hey guys

lol well this is a good point but hardly conclusive. First I should mention that can you can still get amazing visuals looking around it just tend to do different stuff. Obviously dose will effect intensity of everything. On higher amounts I see these lines though the empty space coming off every object almost like the lines that turn a 2d shape into 3d one. Everythings moving and changing color and the lines start appearing as object and people moving around peacefully.

Anyway on higher doses keeping your eyes still isn't as important for a few reasons, firstly you can get amazing closed eye visuals where moving your eyes doesn't matter (or maybe you just keep them still when closed). On high amounts you might not realise when your eyes are closed as its just as colorful as the real world or you might be closing them without realising to rest your eyes/mind, escape into you head etc. Also stuff will start happening so quickly once you look somewhere that it doesn't really matter and half the time you probably just don't realise you're looking in one spot. That and amazing stuff can still happen when your looking around its just that objects tend to maintain their shape
