(Photography) Why you love the place you live

no, i live twenty miles or so outside. i'm priced out of any place in the proximity of what i would consider the city limits.
brilliant piece of artwork i photographed recently

ty. according to the pamphlet i read there's a deep meaning behind the sculpture concerning the transient nature of things and a connection to irish mythology. if you look at the reflection something resembling a headdress of a viking warrior should manifest.

I'm really missing the colors of autumn back east so if any of you have great fall pictures, please post! Herby is jonesing for some scarlet/yellow/orange leaf porn.=D

Out here on the west coast the plant that turns red is the ubiquitous and deadly poison oak. Newcomers often end up in the ER getting cortisone shots after having picked a bouquet of the beautiful red-leafed vines. the worst thing about poison oak aside from the itching rash is that it is still toxic even in its dormant leafless phase in winter. I'll try to snap a picture next time I see this watered down version of fall color.

i would like to get out and spend some time photographing the foliage. if i capture anything worthwhile i'll post it. as i mentioned before, i am not adjusting well to the camera i've been using, and also not in love with the scenery where i live. nonetheless, a few shots i took recently.

[NSFW for size & loadability. hopefully they look better on your screen :!

I love the first and second photos the best. Might I just say that your photography skills at their worst (in your opinion) are far better than mine at their best?;)

thanks.

i believe that big white ball is some type of fungus. it's really strange, almost alien; when i picked it up i thought it might just float away. i need to put some time into photo editing. sort of imo, but seemingly evident. the editing process provides the best opportunity for artistic expression when using digital images.

i've always found the prudential center rather ugly though i like this photo:

^Then you should move--it's a big world!<3

I love that I live with 3,000 year old giants.:)

Your husband's a lucky man herby :)

I used to hate LA. Now, after finding my niche, I love the place. There is so much here, so many horrible things and so many wonderful things. It's so much easier to hate where we live when our lives are nothing but misery and chaos.

sigmond that is Newark, right? At least they have good heroin ;)

Another reason to love where I live: sea otters! This guy was napping in the back Harbor:

^ and ^^ You should have seen me trying to suppress my own squeals of delight and baby talk as I inched closer to take pictures with my phone. You know how when you are really cozy in bed you will sometimes stretch and wiggle your toes contentedly? Well, this little fella was wiggling his back flippers like that and he had his front paws folded just like my Grandpa used to do when he was napping on the couch.I thought the cuteness might melt me right then and there.<3<3<3

Did you know that mother otters will sometimes tie their sleeping babies to a strand of kelp so they don't float away while dive down hunting for food?

Reviving for both Caleb and Tranced and everyone else. Post photos of where you live and what you love about it; where you find beauty. It's everywhere!:)<3

I love where I live because I can grow things year round and this summer I got these volunteer sunflowers that ended up being about 12 feet tall!

I also love that I can have a fire in my garden.
