I just wish this season wasn't a complete shit-show with all the leaks.

I just ruined the season finale for myself accidentally because I read something some moron posted. I've had to watch the leaked episodes as soon as possible to avoid hearing/seeing spoilers but since the entire script for the season was also leaked it still happened. Fucking annoyed.

Game of Thrones looks like a mix of cheap production and a porno... for me better is Lord Of The Rings

So, I think most of the issues with this latest episode are a little nitpick-y... People complain when the show is going to slow. People complain when the show is moving too quickly. I think some GoT fans are spoiled. Having lived through the ups and downs of say... Lost... the "low points" of this show seem pretty high in comparison.

I get the whole thing was staged by the Night King to acquire a dragon. It all makes sense. He didn't really seem all that concerned with anything else. Almost as if he doesn't consider Jon or khaleesi as much of a threat in the first place. Only thing I haven't been able to work out completely is how they got the chains around the dragon while it was at the bottom of the lake. The chains were obviously planted there and all a part of the plan, but that doesn't explain the physics of how it was dragged out of the lake.

Enjoyed much of the episode. I don’t really understand why some people are complaining, to be honest. I was rather impressed by it. Only thing that annoyed me was how long it took Jon to get on the damn dragon.

I’m with you on that. I’m still not entirely sure how they managed to drag the dragon up from the depths. It doesn't seem to make much sense.

I don't think the complaints are a direct response to the show as much as they are a response to the overwhelming drum of popular claims that GoT is one of the greatest shows ever, the greatest show on television, comparable in quality to The Wire, etc...

GoT has for the most part, outside of last season and parts of season 5, been fine. It does, however, have several deep flaws, even at its best. As something of a self-proclaimed amateur Tv aficionado, I find it obnoxious seeing GoT receive all of this undue, undeserved praise while the likes of The Americans, The Leftovers, and even Twin Peaks go unwatched by almost everyone despite being demonstrably better programs. Comparisons to The Wire are absurd. It's absolutely triggering trying to find somebody to talk about the latest episode of Twin Peaks or The Americans with, while everybody else is busy superficially dissecting the largely superficial GoT, even though Twin Peaks and the Americans offer much deeper conversations with more potential avenues and permutations to explore.

Essentially, much of the nitpicking stems from the fact that for a supposed contender for "greatest show of all time," there's a lot of really bad writing and silly bullshit we have to deal with. People simply haven't sorted this out on a conscious level yet, so they nitpick constantly without ever realizing why. The expectations are sky high despite the fact that the show has consistently failed to deliver on them, and remain so due to popular momentum.

Once again, I think GoT is a fine show. Within its proper context as an upper-mid tier series, legendary in its own right for introducing us to certain now well known actors, having some extremely memorable and emotional moments, and opening society up to the idea that Fantasy can actually be a viable genre that reflects human nature and medieval history, as opposed to some literarily stunted sub-category of fiction where grown children hurl firebolts, read only by social outcasts and autists who are astute enough to read in their free time, but not smart enough to read actual literature.

i would assume it would take at least another 5 years for the mini series to even get close, by then this series will surely be over.

heres for Daenerys or Jon Snow as the person who sits on the iron throne.

seven year old post. fucking christ. am i right yet? i literally don't remember anything from last season except that jamie is still alive which is really all that matters right now

I thought you died, man.

Let's do a college football thread this year.

I'm glad that this is the final season. I wish Martin would come out with Winds of Winter already, but tbh I have essentially lost all hope that he will ever finish the series. Last thing he said wrt the novel was "not 2018."

Lmao

I don?t know anything about CFB this year except that Urbz got suspended and axl is still dead. which is about all i know about game of thrones too. as long as jamie lives, so shall i.

Miami plays LSU first game of the season. And finally has a good team this year.

Something about GoT to keep the thread on topic. I'll try not to derail anymore, lol.

I am really excited about the new season coming up soon, have been catching up and watching the series over again.

I really didn't think I would like this show until I started watching, and wow, Jofree is a cunt, and was glued to it ever since lol.

I just wonder when it's actually gonna premiere... all I've heard is 'the first half' of 2019. So that could be a really long time or relatively soon. I can be patient though. Only six episodes left so I don't want to rush it.

Supposedly it's going to be summer 2019 now, since certain people attached to the show have said it won't land in the right window for certain award shows

As per usual, the books are better than the show. But, the show itself is quite entrancing and is worth the effort of sitting on my lounge with my remote :D

Peter Dinklage recently claimed season 8 will be the best season of any television show ever. Doesn't seem like the sort of guy that unfairly oversells things either.

I hope so, I'm really looking forward to it and hope it hits all the right spots :)

too bad GRRM is gonna die before Winds of Winter comes out. no worries of the show spoilering the books at least, the show is guaranteed to end differently from the books for one important reason: aegon targaryen

are you dead? i update my original post. Daenerys going to fucking die. birthing a bastard maybe. she has a miscarriage in the book doesnt she? Jon Snow sits on the throne as regent. marries Sansa or something weird? Jamie survives because that's all i care about now. Bran takes over a dragon and dies because i'm sick of him. i dont know or care anymore. i need it to end.
