First, just a little background information to put my experience into context. As a former heroin addict I was prescribed suboxone 3 years ago with the plan to be eventually weened off of it, as opposed to a maintenance program that would last indefinitely. This was successful though during my perscription I would snort my subs here and there. I've been off my prescription now for almost a year, and still heroin free and I now use bupe recreationally here and there. Now that I have zero tolerance i could feel nice snorting the tiny 2mg subs while I need to do at least 4mg to achieve similar effect sublingually.
Anyway, long intro to that, but I got a 2mg film today and came here to see if people had any experience with intranasal or rectal administration. After reading I, disappointingly, decided I'd better not waste it and just go sublingual. Though I read that the absorption is theoretically more efficient than the pills, I really didn't have my hopes up for any major, noticeable difference.
So I popped the film under my tongue and waited. The film dissolved rather quickly but it still took time to absorb, I could taste the strong chemical flavor under the back of my tongue afterwords, and was still producing saliva that I refused to swallow for about 10minutes...so while it dissolves quicker I'm not too sure it actually absorbs into the bloodstream quicker. The upside is that it produces much less saliva, which means less bupe is leaking out from under your tongue and making the situation uncomfortable while you try not to swallow any of your dose. The taste is about the same but much easier to keep under your tongue.
After it had finished dissolving, I went and made some food and ate to get rid of any lingering flavor. After that my disappointment set in. Perhaps I was expecting it to kick in faster since it was supposed to be absorbed faster, but I was still not feeling anything up to 30min afterwards. That all changed though. It's been an hour and I'm now in complete shock about how powerful these strips are. It took a while but I can't tell any difference between this and snorting tablets.
Of course this is all subjective, but for those who are used to snorting bupe and are worried about not achieving the same potency through the strips, I'd highly recommend just trying your normal intranasal dose sublingually and sitting patiently to see how it works out. You get much better absorption from these things than the tablets and it's quite a noticeable increase in potency. If you're patient enough to read this tl;dr post then you should have no problem waiting for these to kick it, it's worth it (especially if your like me and feel like snorting subs is fucking up your nose).
Edit Update: got a little nod going on here and there when I close my eyes and opiate itches, which I've never experienced from administering the tablets sublingually. This could be because I was only using sublingualy while I had a huge tolerance but I suspect that it's due to all of the fillers in the tablets get in the way of efficient sublingual absorption while the strips correct this flaw.
