Hi all,

First time Bluelight poster here. Big thanks to everyone who has contributed to make this site what it is: an amazing harm reduction and information source.

Apologies if my question has been answered elsewhere, I've searched a while and haven't been able to a complete answer.

So, I've been taking Tramadol daily for about six months. Dosage is low, typically 50mg in the AM and another 50mg around noon. Rarely over 100mg in a day. I find the SNRI properties of Tram to be a good kick in the rump before work in the morning....and likely self-medicating for slight depression, but I'll leave that to the therapists.

Anyway, I'm planning on rolling this Friday night. It's been over two years since my last roll and I'm looking forward to it. I've heard that Tramadol can block MDxx effects so I stopped taking the Tram last week (final dose Wednesday morning).

I'm interested to know how long Tram effects the Serotonin System and the time it takes for it to re-balance. It will be roughly 9-10 days from my last Tram dose to the roll...do you think the roll will still be affected by the Tram use?

Do I need to be concerned about any interactions between the two (I've read that Tram and E is one, nasty combo....actually, Tram and about ANYTHING seems to be a nasty combo).

Finally, if I'm out the next few nights and add some yayo to the mix, should I be concerned about that and any interactions with the E and my Tram use?

Any and all comments are much appreciated. Thanks everyone!

You should be fine with a gap like that. Tram doesn't block MDMA - that's SSRIs - it causes Serotonin Syndrome. 24 hours without the tram either side is fine as a minimum. Any extra days won't hurt though.

Coke kills an MDMA buzz so best not to mix them. Coke + tram won't cause SS but tram is horrid with stims - you'll just be a jittery mess - so also best not to mix. I always stop my daily tram for 24 hours either side of using any stims and that works okay.

Thanks Shambles.

Found an interesting article relating to SS: http://psy.psychiatryonline.org/cgi/content/full/45/1/84

If I understand correctly, Tramadol does not block the affects of MDMA, but can instead lead to a dangerous increase in Serotonin levels if taken together...hence, the SS caution.

Some people have posted that their daily use of Tram has left them unable to properly roll. Wonder if it's the change in their Serotonin System due to the daily Tram use? And how long would it take for your Serotonin System to re balance itself to pre-Tram levels?

Eh, either way it sounds like I'm good-to-go. Def glad I'm giving myself the Tram break, even if its on the longer-than-necessary side.

The SS issue is no joke with tramadol. I was gifted with a non-lethal (obviously) but seriously unpleasant case of it when I took LSD one night after just 50mg of tramadol in the morning and another 50mg that afternoon - brief description written the day after. By far the most horrific drug experience I've ever had. Tram is not a drug for mixing :|

Yikes. I wouldn't wish that experience on anyone. Glad you made it through.

To make matters worse, Tram has a pretty long half-life (~ 7 hours) so clearing takes some time. You need to plan in advance to avoid any nasty combos.

As I said, I always leave a full day after my last dose of tram before taking any stims (especially more serotonergic ones) or psyches - really isn't worth the risk :|

Actually, even after 24 hours I have noticed the potentiating effects of tram on stims/psyches - rarely in a pleasant way but doesn't feel as lethal.

Okay..final question (unless there are others wanting to chime in)

I'm good with the harm reduction aspect. No tram after the roll for 48 hours as well....I should be safe on the SS front.

BUT

Can I expect a normal E experience given the 8-9 day break from the Tram use? Or, do you think the 6 month daily, low-dose Tram use will diminish the effects of the E?

Thanks again Shambles. Let me know what you think and I'll be sure to post back my experience after the weekend.

Personally I would expect there to be no noticeable difference with a gap like that. Even with just 24 hours off the tram MDMA feels the same as it ever did when I use it now. You should have a perfectly good time as you would expect if you had never taken tramadol. Look forward to reading your report and have fun :)

All right, reporting back from the experience:

One week off the Trams was plenty for a nice roll. Took 2 of these: http://www.pillreports.com/index.php?page=display_pill&id=20775, and had a nice evening amongst the lawn creatures at a show 8o Only difference I noticed was a slight delay coming up....would estimate 2 hours before really feeling the effects. Not sure if there's any connection there with a 6 month Tram habit, but worth noting. Also helped to have some k-pins for the comedown late night =D

Given my experience, I think a week off between Tram use and a roll works nicely. Will follow Shambles advice and give 24+ hours before taking the Tram again.

As some have posted before...the longer and heavier the Tram use, the longer the break is advised. For 6 months at 50-100mg/day, a week did the trick.

Have fun, be safe!
