Gabapentin & (Clonazepam, Xanax, Ativan etc)

nuke you are the man son. I feel like I'm dying, 16 hours, 2 years, now with pregablin! life is complete! always the best preductive days then hit the pipe and JAM, all that staggered dosing hits like a ton of bricks. can I go to far? really? gabapentin? no way. turned the bathroom light on and saw red light, I mean +3 wtf is happening but only for 30 seconds, eyes fully opened, the most bloodshot I have seen them. the true stimulant, psychedelic and tranquilizer feeling (but somehow slightly euphoric unlike ANY other "knock you out" drug). and this could go on and on.

DAMN just had to get something out. my question is this: why do some people have such different reactions and does it have anything to do with synapses not firing/rebuidling?

when i was addicted to gaba and pregablin(lyrcica) benzos made my symtoms a million times worse be warey!

Hello, everybody! I just joined this site recently but I am no stranger to it. I really appreciate the information that everybody contributes too. I also would like to add my experience with Gabapentin mixed with Klonopin. I started the Gabapentin at 1800mg on empty stomach all at once and waited about an 1hr and a half. Then the effects started to come on. I got a really good sensation from the gabapentin just very relaxed and a up lifting in my mood. With that being said I then decided to take 2mg of klonopin sublingual under the tongue so it will have a faster onset. Within 20mintues the klonopin began to surface. And let me tell you from my experience I am feeling wonderful and not a care in the worl. The effects I got from both range from (a little sedation with an uplifting in mood and mild euphoria through out my body and mind. Like a felling of a floating high through out the mind but still being able to function. It feels amazing and i will be trying this again in the future. (ps, I did this on an empty stomach.

A year ago I took way too many Lyrica. By the time I woke in the morning, I couldn?t stand straight and kept falling down. I injured my arm quite badly. I don?t take that anymore but is gabapentin the same? I?m also taking Ativan. I just want to sleep and not wake up. I have no alcohol.

Dear JMDALLMAN,
I read your message and felt for you. I wanted to let you know what I have discovered in recent weeks...Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia is now considered the best fight against insomnia. I would suggest you talk to your insurance company to see if they can help you locate an "in-network" provider. The other thing I wanted to let you know is that in the recent weeks and months I have been made aware that 4 out of 4 of my doctors say Gabapentin is less dangerous than Ativan. I will also tell you what I have been made aware...Ativan is highly addictive and going off it cold turkey is dangerous. So do not go off it cold turkey, but talk to your doctor about reducing it. Depending on how much you take and for how long, you need to come up with a taper schedule that is right for you. I would suggest reducing 1/4 mg for high doses (1mg or more) and 1/8 mg for lower doses (1 mg or less). You need to lower the dose and stay at that lower amount a week or more for your body and brain to adjust. You stay at that level until symptoms subside and you feel strong enough to continue. At times you will have withdrawal symptoms of insomnia and anxiety. That is why you need to be under a doctor's care during this difficult time. You can talk to your insurance company to see if they can help you locate an "in-network" addiction psychiatrist specialist if you feel your current doctor cannot handle this. You can try and taper at a slower rate and a smaller amount if you need. You do need to be careful that you do not take too many Ativan (very dangerous) and you need to never take more Gabapentin unless you have your Dr. OK. Overdosing of Ativan is more serious because it is so addictive, but you don't want to overdose Gabapentin either. Insomnia is bad, but drug addiction or overdose is even more so. Get as good help as you can. I was given Ativan for insomnia and only after 6 months of continual use discovered that that was not an appropriate drug for insomnia. It is for anxiety and is supposed to be used only 3 days in a row before tapering down to make sure no addiction occurs. It should not be used for weeks and months at a time. If you need get more than one dr's opinion. Best of Luck!

Overdosing benzos acutely is actually VERY unlikely to kill you, unless there are other depressant drugs in the mix. Due to the way benzos interact with the GABAa receptor, and alter the kinetics of ion flux through the central channel, making GABA more efficacious, thus causing the channel to open more often, the body can compensate, by releasing less GABA.

Physical dependence to benzos IS highly dangerous, at best its torture, at worst, its fatal. Even 'mild' benzo WD the absolute pits.

BUT, on an acute basis, it is extremely difficult to fatally overdose on benzodiazepines and only benzodiazepines.

Overdoses on BZDs usually end in "behavioural" toxicity e.g. Jimbo Doe takes 400 mg of phenazepam and plays real life Frogger on the interstate.

Ive read stories of people that fell asleep on a high dose of benzos while laying on their arm in a way that the bloodflow is cut off. This apparently resulted in their arm dieing off while they were asleep. I dont know how much truth is in these stories tho since theyre entirely anecdotal

I'm not sure if I believe that, its not like they immobilize you, I guess it could happen if mixed with other drugs and the odds may be increased if you took enough to sleep for say 16 hours. But I've slept on my harm pretty hard before, have woken up many times without being able to feel it or move it at all and it took quite some time for feeling to return but never did I think I was anywhere close to doing the slightest bit of tissue damage off for lack of blood flow.

And I'm not sure in what context we are talking about acute BZD overdose, but I don't think its at all possible to die from them alone, one night I took literally at least 50mg of alprazolam in about 8 hours, possibly 100mg and I was fine, well not fine I was super fucked up for a really long time, but nowhere close to death. And this is when I was a teenager, so no tolerance beyond being able to take a bar and still function. And a friends mother tried to commit suicide by taking 60 blue footballs(60mg) and about half of a 0.75L vodka bottle before passing out, we found her around 3AM and called an ambulance, but I don't think she was going to die even if we hadn't considering it had been hours since she had dosed, although I think if she had gotten down the rest of that vodka she may have succeeded. She did have a tolerance to both though.

I could see it happening if someone has taken enough to keep them asleep for long enough. IIRC there was someone on BL it happened to on opioids where they had had their legs over something that compressed the blood vessels, and they ended up either severely damaging or losing limbs as a result.

I'm not saying its impossible, but I would still need to see it to believe it. An opioid overdose would limit mobility, and lower blood o2 levels, plus it sounds like said person fell asleep in an odd position, not in a bed, was affected by some other object, and legs have much worse blood flow than arms/blood pooling; heck given the described circumstance and involvement of more than his own body it could have had less to do with the drugs and more to do with hie stupid choice to fall asleep like that, its not like people can't sleep on their limbs while sobre. Not to mention people make up all sorts of shit on the internet for attention, I hate to insinuate someone is being less than honest without any evidence, but there would need to be something in the thread to convince me what I was reading was true.(could be as little an a convincing account of the trauma, not necessarily pictures or physical evidence) Not to mention there's a big difference between doing some tissue damage to your fingertips, and your entire limb dying off.

I don’t care what the science says, gabapentin (Neurontin) ABSOLUTELY, 100% BLOCKS XANAX. I’ve never taken any less than 300mg gabapentin (I’ve been Rx’d 300mg caps and 600mg tabs) and I don’t think I’ve wasted any more than 2mg Xanax, but, it COMPLETELY blocks it. I never took them together when I was Rx’d clonazepam (Klonopin) and gabapentin, nor have I had the opportunity - nor do I even want to - take as much diazepam (Valium) to achieve the incredible feeling 2mg+ Xanax gives me - 30mg+ Valium - to be able to tell if it blocks out Valium, like it does Xanax, but, I would assume it does. Keep in mind, we are all different, our body chemistries all vary, BUT, chemicals work the way they work with our bodies the way they do. I would urge anyone and everyone to NOT take gabapentin with their benzos. In my experience, I’ve essentially thrown the most effective benzo down the toilet more than once - I think I only made that mistake twice. Don’t risk it. You might be like me.

Peace. Love. Unity. Respect,
beanfiend

NOTE: Yup. Still breathin’. Opioid-free for just over three years (I’ve been on Suboxone/Subutex ever since. Another addiction or not, bupe has saved my life. I stopped drinking - 28 months ago - because bupe and alcohol made me black out.) I’m Rx’d relatively low-dose Valium (15mg/day), but, I haven’t taken Xanax or any other benzos since October 1st. I’ve smoked trees once since then. I haven’t used cocaine since 2013 nor have I used MDMA since March 2010 (I may have 3g of it in my room somewhere, though ;) .) As far as the beanfiend goes, especially after everything I’ve done over the last nearly 20 years, I’m pretty clean now. Well, that’s enough checking in for now - especially in a thread not about me or what’s in my bloodstream - but, I’m still here and I love you all.
