ANNOUNCEMENT: Please do not use swim

Please do not use the acronym SWIM.

It will not protect you. Just like calling cocaine "fishcale," heroin "horse," or whatever other slang you use, it won't help. Law enforcement will know what you're talking about and it won't protect you in court.

It's annoying and just looks bad.
It breaks up the flow while you're reading text and it's automatically noticeable as soon as you open the thread. People might even skip over what you've written if you use it.

So please, stop using it. We don't want to resort to using the replacement filter.

ANNOUNCEMENT: Help us out by using the report feature

Some of you might not be aware, but vBulletin (the software that runs this forum) has a built in report feature that will alert all staff.

You can use it by clicking the
report.gif
image located underneath a posters avatar -all the way on the left side of their reply.

It can be used to, but not limited to, report harassment, a site/forum rule being broken, a thread located in the wrong forum, or wrong information.

As soon as the report is sent, we(staff) will get it in a special forum dedicated to reports. Staff members check that forum daily, and some even get automatic emails triggered by the reports in their forum. So, reporting will produce the fastest results.

PLEASE HELP US OUT AND USE THE REPORT FEATURE!

(Also, for people interested in becoming staff, use of the report feature is something we look at when considering applicants.)

Announcement - RC Vendors Public Naming and Shaming

It has become apparent with the recent influx of "RC’s" and their coincided branded packaging that there has inevitably been some inconsistencies with contents and labelling of such products which have distressingly brought on fatalities and other health problems arising as a result of either mislabelling or misuse.

We here at Bluelight aren’t of the naming and shaming these vendors, as has been popping up in many posts as of late here in OD. It is clearly stated in the BLUA Sourcing is not allowed.

Instead of approaching the matter by naming and shaming these vendors and such we’re asking you to take a more succinct approach to the matter and more simply give a warning about a potentially lethal batch of “X” going around – “X” being an arbitrary letter for the name of any number of the "RC’s" out there.

We're going to tighten up on our moderating and start adding warnings and infractions to posts not abiding by the rules instead of just a simple warning. And as usual we ask you to use the Report function where you see these (or any other) violations.

ANNOUNCEMENT - Threads on Administering Drugs to Animals

Whether your pet is sick or you just think they'll enjoy an opana buzz, this is not the place to ask. Bluelighters speculating about giving pets drugs, even to relieve pain, can be dangerous and this is not something to guess about. Veterinary professionals should be consulted and that is the only advice we can offer in the spirit of harm reduction.

Threads will be closed straight away, no arguing.

OC type generic discussion

Please refrain from creating threads discussing that status of the more easily abused OxyContin generics based on the old OC formula. Posting hearsay information and speculating about their status isn't helpful. Not to mention the whole topic barely skates as HR advice to begin with.

HOWEVER, if you have a press release or an article on the matter, please post and discuss it in DiTM.

ANNOUNCEMENT - Price Discussion Reminder

This is just a friendly reminder from your OD staff about rules and rule changes concerning price discussion.

OD Guidelines said:
2 ) NO DRUG PRICE THREADS Do not post threads asking about the price or availability of drugs. Do not list prices of any drugs anywhere in threads. Formerly we had an annual price thread where anyone could list drug prices for their location however this has been closed and NO DRUG PRICES are allowed anywhere. The only prices allowed are for harm reduction materials such as filters, bacteriostatic water and so forth.

So to be clear- absolutely no drug price discussion is allowed anywhere in OD and the only price discussion that is allowed is related to harm reduction materials. If you have any questions, contact myself or other OD staff.

I thought I would just post in here and make sure that it is on the record that any advocation of intravenous drug use will warrant an automatic infraction.

In other words telling someone that was asking about ROAs, or just in general recommending people to IV their DOC is not acceptable.

MUVOLUTION EDIT: the official policy of Other Drugs is that posts should not advocate IV drug use to anyone not already asking about it. There is harm inherent in the act of administering all varieties of drugs not meant for injection. We simply cannot allow it.

Example given:

How many dilaudid is it safe to take if I am used to 20-30mg oxycodone.

Infraction-worthy response:
eating dilaudid is a waste. You gotta iv that shit man.

We are all about harm reduction, and it is totally different if someone wants to know how to safely use their drugs via the IV ROA. It is our mission at Other Drugs to provide this information, while simultaneously advocating for alternatives to IV drug use, such as rectal administration, insuffilation, etc...

TRICOMB EDIT:
Review your posts prior to submitting and double check to make sure your post is worthy and in accordance with our guidelines. Please make sure you're not inappropriately glorifying drug use, particularly IV or any high-risk category, or giving at-risk posters any false sense of security.

A bad trend I've noticed lately is encouraging of IV and other high-risk drug abuse. Take into consideration how many unregistered users browse this forum for harm reduction advice, and read our posts but don't always heed our warnings. There are often more than half a thousand unregistered users viewing OD at a time, and thousands more that view this forum daily. (As covered in our BLUA this includes law enforcement so do not be too incriminating, as a reminder, we do not allow SWIM or any of it's variants).

So please use your better judgement browsing and posting in Other Drugs and any other online forum. Tripman has already made an announcement on this, and infractions will be given on sight if this behavior persists further, as this is a harm reduction focus forum, you are expected to treat it as one. There are more appropriate threads/megathreads to discuss IV or any other high-risk activity, which are better suited for this discussion because these threads also contain the relevant HR information usually found on page 1.

And last but not least... Do not post anything that is dangerous, reckless, anti-HR for any reason, or possibly lethal. This applies to some drugs more than others, but for example, never recommend combinations of CNS depressants like benzodiazepines, opioids, alcohol, etc. If you have nothing HR to contribute, ask yourself if your post will do more good or harm.

THE GOLDEN RULE IS: RATIO OF RISK VS REWARD.

NOTE: Please think about what the readers with no tolerance might do when they read your post and followed your footsteps. When giving information on extremely potent opioids like oxymorphone, fentanyl, etc. (especially fent, since the majority of readers do not have access to a laboratory with which to accurately measure micrograms), to be HR means to educate the posters about the precautions that must be taken to minimize the dangers and consequences associated with high risk drug abuse.

Posters giving dangerous or harmful advice (especially regarding potent/potentially lethal compounds) will be warned verbally, then receive a formal warning, and if this anti-HR behavior continues, your access to bluelight will be restricted, infractions will be given.

Thankyou,
TC

Attention All Bluelighters

Other Drugs is cracking down on posting standards; e.g. material that does not reflect the best interests of a forum dedicated to harm reduction.

In other words, the OD crew is drawing the line and taking a strict stance on harm reduction to eliminate any previous mixed messages in terms of the glorification of drug abuse.

Bluelight is on the front-lines of harm reduction and it's critical for us to be completely dedicated to an undeniably HR-oriented environment.

For too long, people have been getting away with posting things under the guise of harm reduction, no matter how far fetched.

Personally, I do not consider it harm reduction or in anyone's best interest to discuss how to make the best crack pipe, how to get the most out of IV meth, how to tamper with and abuse fentanyl transdermal patches "safely" (ironic, if you ask me, how do you safely abuse fentanyl?) etc. One could make the argument that this discussion is the antithesis of harm reduction.

It's misleading when users give HR advice in one thread, but then go on to glorify the many of the same dangerous poly-drug cocktails in another thread in OD.

We seek to destroy this type of double standard.... 'hypocrisy', if you will.

Unfortunately, until further notice, the OD Social is no more.

However, it is important for you to know that this action was not done lightly.

OD Social Crew, dropping all formalities, I do hope we all find a place to kick it. I am also hoping that you all can each understand how the OD Social has distracted us from being as effective environment for the promotion of harm reduction.

That being said, as muvolution would say, "Get off my lawn."
