Quitting cannabis - survey

I have a choice.... Benzo's from a doctor that are really addictive and harmful....or smoke natural green plant to relieve my anxiety... i choose the green plant...

what would your choice be?

weed ofc! ;)

I did the survey and it was good but there were some questions that seemed a little bit one sided.
Like: how aware are you that your cannabis use effected your relationships with friends/family etc.
It hasn't effected my relationships but I can't choose that. So it makes me sad.

Whatever the case maybe.....the best technique to quit ANYTHING from cannabis to even opiates, is a slow progressive decrease in dosage of the chemical or drug being used.....or else the body gets completely confused when all of a sudden the chemical is not present in the body anymore....RIGHT??

I think your a *insert against the rules insult here* for double posting this bias survey. (noone else noticed this is a double post...its a small forum and the threads are right next to eachother.)

No harm done, smokeymcpot, but I have deleted the offending post.

I don't think anyone is denying the truth of this statement. Some people quit by gradual reduction, other need different methods, and this study addresses those methods and more I'm sure.

That's certainly not the right way to go about quitting crack.

damn aussies always get the the cool bonuses for the surveys,,, and now its closed... I would participated either way. I always catch this shit too late..... and I agree about the crack comment completely, smart greenlighter ^ ^

This is an interesting thread, I never knew it is so hard to quit smoking.I used to smoke every day for 4-6 years. I quit because of my job it was very easy for me.Sure I miss it sometimes I loved getting high and still would if I didn't get tested. The only thing I really noticed is that MJ makes a person complacent. Just my 2cents.

Thanks for the heads up about the survey being closed. Yes, you may have to move to Oz to take advantage of all these survey bonuses ;)

It would be good to have a better system for international payments or vouchers that did not compromise the confidentiality of the respondent, while still not encouraging people to fake responses to get the booty!

I used to smokeweed everyday in high school the first time being in 7th grade, With my older brother. As far as quiting, My personal experience is that , Weed just lost it's apeal to me. When i first started smoking green it would make me feel relaxed and have a "Go with the flow" attitude. After years of smoking(13-19yrs old) The drug just had a different effect, Actually the complete opposite effect. I would feel extremely paranoid "noided out" and uncomfortable. I dont know what brought about this change but i know a lot of others that had the same experience and who still can smoke daily and get the same "Go with the flow" feeling. I dont have a clue why this happens with some and not others but i think it's worth looking into because this could possibly help a lot of people quit and also i would really like to know why i cant joyfully smoke chronic anymore. I belive that it may have something to do with me moving on to heavier more illicit drugs and more frequent use. I know this, If i could still get the good relaxed feeling from cannibus that i used to when i first started smoking, I would be smoking weed everyday, And more then likely not be useing other drugs. This being said, I also believe that cannabis should be the least of anyones worries. If you want a good way to help people quit smoking weed then why not open a weed rehab center? Because noone would come thats why. Cannibus is the least of anyones problem and to anyone with a weed addiction really wants to quit i think if they make that decision they can make the steps to make this happen. If a 10 year heroin addict can quit shooting up then i'm quite sure a pot head can quit smoking weed. Seriously weed should be the least of anyones worries.

yea weed makes me paranoid

IMO this is funny. marijuana is scientifically proven to be non-addictive. but if some one wants to stop smoking weed just dont smoke. Its all in your head.

I think it`s almost insulting to call this addiction.
It`s a habit, it`s all in your head.

cerealbowl, bmore410 and others:

"It's all in your head" doesn't help anyone. How would you like it if you were depressed, or bipolar, or schizophrenic, and someone tells you "it's all in your head - get over it"?

It's irrelevant whether cannabis is 'physically addictive'. All that matters is that some people have problems managing their use and may need some treatment to help them. Cannabis is just like any other drug in that regard. In fact some people need help managing non-drug behaviours that can get out-of-hand (internet use, online gaming, gambling, sex...etc).

There is this stigma attached to people having problems with cannabis - it's perceived as a soft drug compared to heroin, amphetamines, even alcohol. I'm sure that makes it even harder for people who genuinely have a problem with cannabis to seek help, because they fear being ridiculed.

My message to anyone reading who is considering getting help to reduce their cannabis use is that there is treatment available because this is a legitimate problem. In fact, the courses of specialist alcohol and other drug treatment provided in my locale (Victoria, Australia) for cannabis have been increasing over the past few years. In Australia, go to www.counsellingonline.org.au for referrals.

I had just recently quit smoking pot for the longest time in the 10 years iv been smoking it. 22 days! lol..I know its not much..but I was proud. But now I just started smoking it again..lame

It did drop my tolerance a lot but it quicky came back with in 3 sessions. Ugggh.

I smoked some Sour Diseal mixed with OG KUSH and wooow was I high.

FOr me having a sex parter really helps. Sex and someone you really love can really help you quit smoking pot. Making sure to fill the time you would normaly be smoking pot with something productive!.

First up I'd say meds are absolute shit for cannibis WD, another excuse for full-blown bongheads diagnosed as skitzos to stay fucked all the time, at least in the case of my best mates twin.
Not that hard to quit, just find something to occupy your mind instead. Wish I could follow my own advice... My social life is pretty shit at present, mostly hanging out with old cone-smoking mates, which habitually makes me think about weed. Gotta start up a martial art, will give me some confidence, self-defense and something to do instead of putting off this dark cloud of depression I just can't seem to chase away...
Do an instrument, sport, find a missus, fucking hell, just something more fulfilling than packing another god damn cone...

I agree with cereal, it's a habit. The reason that I quit is because I fell in love with a wonderful woman that had two beautiful children. I usually smoked when I came home from work to stamp out the boredom of not much to do. I would usually call up a friend or two to join in the ritual. This habit was broken when I moved in with my now fiancee and filled my after work habit with helping around the house and playing with the kids. To sum it all up, I used weed to pass time and cope with boredom. I now occupy my time the way I should have in the past, with family. I never really experienced any kind of withdrawl. If anything I was moodier when I smoked.

Indeed, I'm pretty sure that they've proven (clinically, double blind) that fingernails are not addictive but I've been chewing on those suckers since I was 5. I quit smoking cannabis (same reason- started making me paranoid, couldn't relax any more), smoking cigarettes and lots of other assorted chemicals but I've never been able to stop biting my nails. Of course, I didn't have a bong physically attached to my hand either, so take from that what you will.
