Music to listen to while studying --- What do you listen to?

If you're me, converge, venetian snares, autechre, etc. :D
Just the same stuff I usually listen to.

ebola

as always... our tastes are awesome.

anyone who says classical, more power to you, but i couldn't do it because it was SO complex at times, i'd find myself listening to the music rather than doing what i was intending to do due to it's ever changing soundscapes! semi-neo classical type stuff like henryk gorecki, however, was the exception. his shiet was so relaxing to me and pretty simplistic.

i think explosions in the sky, pelican, russian circles, mogwai, water fai, ovum, and similar stuff. mostly post-rock and post-metal instrumental type stuff is the easiest for me to listen to while trying to study.

If it's *intense* study, I prefer silence, or music so soft that it's mere background.

For run-of-the-mill study, mellow ambient is unparalleled. And words are the enemy.

Instrumental or foreign language music. Check out the soundtrack to the Brother's Bloom. It's pretty great, in my opinion.

Uplifting trance is about the only kind of music with lyrics that can see me through many intensely focused hours of studying. The lyrics are so simple and repetitive, and not always even understandable, especially if they're high and female.

My Chinese ex-girlfriend used to say that the lyrics to trance anthems are a lot like the little Chinese poems written on cheap watercolor paintings -- simple, upbeat, and utterly ignorable.

I like idm/electronica while studying. Lyrics always seem to distract me too much.
Favorites have got to be :
Boards of Canada
Casino Versus Japan
Arovane
Autechre
Proem

Right.

I'd recommend some IDM (Intelligent Danxe Music) because it's nice and soothing and not too distracting. Try some artists like Proem, Blamstrain, Kathie Talbot and...hmmm...SubtractiveLAD. There we go, enjoy, our kid. :)

For some reason, Jimi Hendrix does it for me, but I like the idea of Shpongle, I'll have to give that a go next time :)

I can't listen to shit while I'm studying because I get reminded of how much I love music and how much more worthwhile it seems to just sit and listen than trying to study. I need silence otherwise I will focus all my attention on the song. If I don't focus all my attention on the song it just sounds like distracting noise, no matter what band.

who me? Actually I already got my Christmas present. A new radio for my car! I was driving in silence for about 5 months. Finally I get music again!
I used to play djembe or harmonica or beatboxing or singing while driving to entertain myself.

My love of music is not in question here. It's just that I love it a little too much to be able to listen to it and study. :)
Maybe it's ADD?
