I can only laugh. As a 44 year old I have been listening to the same complaints ("Trance now is nothing like what it was") since the genre first evolved.

As for imagining that Armada cintrols everything, not even if you listen To Armin's show. You laugh off small labels but in places I frequent (on 3 continents) I rarely here an Armada track. You want to imagine I know nothing about the genre because I disagree with you? The word "poseur" comes to mind but maybe I'm judging your comments too harshly. Maybe in your corner of the world you only get to hear State of Trance and imagine it represents anything real. If so, travel, you will be a$azed how diverse 0Trance truly is.

As for Armin staying true to the genre seeing as how everybody and their mum are doing mainstream remixes EXCEPT Armin, yeah I definitely see it that way. As I said, making money doesn't equal selling out.

After reading that I'm not even going to bother taking this further.

you can say you liked the trance from a decade ago but are you really a trance lover ?. or are you just saying that todays trance sucks ? the music has evolved and the sounds are better then what they were before harder beats, new techs and equipment that make the music better more powerful to the ear.

Yes, a large portion of today's trance in my opinion has gone mainstream/commercial, and its not to my liking. But in saying that, there is still quality trance out there that I can appreciate. I am aware trance is a broad genre. Obviously I haven't excepted the fact that this is what trance is today, and how it has evolved, but when I go back to pre 2005 it just doesn't compare for me. Its changed for the worse.

Just jumped into the rave scene last year so I don't really know about old school but modern trance producers are blowing my mind away. Going to an event with Markus Schulz, Cosmic Gate, Above&Beyond, Tiesto (not a big fan but i don't complain) and Sander van Doorn in one month, gonna be the Party of the year for sure:D

not bad thats a good line up .. they should not disappoint ..
tiesto is whack ,..i dont like him much and he has nothing to do with trance really

When i first started clubbing in the uk hard house was the king and dj's like Tony de vit and lisa lashes, Andy farley et al reigned supreme and when pilled up dancing to that stuff was amazing but for longevity and emotion trance is number one.I mean just look at dj magazines top 100, for the last 4 years armin has topped it and before then it was tiesto, also most of the top ten have been trance dj's in the last ten years.
Las vegas has cottoned on to it with Paul oakenfold at the palms and tiesto this year too, all taste is subjective but no-one can argue that trance isn't extremely popular.
Sorry i don't know how to do links but here are my top five tunes.
1-Tiesto Lethal industry
2-Blank and Jones mind of the wonderful
3- Simon patterson smack
4-Bedrock heaven scent
5- Gouryella gouryella or -Spoiled and zigo more and more(vocal mix)
I could talk all day about trance and hard house, see ya.

Thanks man, i could of made a top 20, 40, 60 to a hundred but if you make i five then you really have to think, what are those extra special tunes. Peace.
This is a question for you, being Aussie and all, do you want to see ponting go, personally, i think you guys need new blood. If you are in to cricket.

^ new or old a great track its a great track . their are legendary old tracks and fresh new ones.

my itunes consists of all old trance tracks , and all new podcasts i barely have new released "tracks" i just maintain a constant flow of music through podcasts (which fucking rule)

my favorite style of trance is vocal trance and progressed

like iv said their are so many new great tracks from non commercial djs , and of course the well known artists have the cheesey commercial trance (still love it lol)...

and not to get off topic but just making a point befor "house " got really popular it was very good and very underground NOW its pure garbage and (well at least were i live ) is extremely COMMERCIAL

it all depends on how deep your into the genre of music you listen to. if your really into it commercial is not satisfying. the commercial is their to please the crowds ppl who dont really know much and just listen to w.e. , but the trance i listen to is not really commercial and most tracks are unreleased, re remixed, & mashed up

MARKUS SCHULTZ FTW. i love all his stuff and the stuff he does under the dakota name. as for armin i like him to but he needs to pass the crown and work his way back up.
my faves are
1. Markus Schultz
2.wezz devall
3.rank1
4.cosmic gate
5.skytech
6.armin
7.tiesto's old stuff
